Hi there, I just created a Zotero Group for Zope. http://www.zotero.org/groups/zope There is one about Plone as well http://www.zotero.org/groups/plone What is Zotero? ============ Zotero is a plugin for Firefox to automatically create bibliographies. What is a Zotero Group? =================== If you join a Zotero Group you can collectively create and use a bibliography. Why you should join and help ======================= When you write an article or a paper about Zope or if you create a presentation about it, you often want to insert citations to prove your arguments or to give your reader further information. Creating a bibliography all by yourself sucks. So let us crowdsource it! If you want to try out Zotero, download it here: http://www.zotero.org I am using 2.0beta. I am not sure if you can share bibliographies with the stable version 1.0. Just try it. Cheers! juh

Storage names being lowercased by collective.recipe.filestorage ?

Hi there It looks like the filestorage recipe lowercases storage names somewhere, making storage names containing uppercase characters fail. In a buildout, I have a [filestorages] section with parts like this: """ parts = ClmE GclMe TwaP """ It generates zeo.conf and zope.conf containing the expected derived names, and filestorages are created: $ ls var/filestorage/ClmE var/filestorage/ClmE: ClmE_Data.fs ClmE_Data.fs.index ClmE_Data.fs.lock ClmE_Data.fs.tmp However when I try to add ZODB mount points from the ZMI, it deadlocks with this traceback recurring: """ 2009-07-21T09:51:49 (127.0.0.1:48909) register() raised exception: unknown storage: ClmE Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/zope/instances/.../parts/zope2/lib/python/ZEO/zrpc/connection.py", line 421, in handle_request ret = meth(*args) File "/home/zope/instances/.../parts/zope2/lib/python/ZEO/StorageServer.py", line 217, in register raise ValueError("unknown storage: %s" % storage_id) ValueError: unknown storage: ClmE """ In the ZMI (/Control_Panel/Database) I see that it shows the database name as 'clme'. I should mention that the same setup done manually (i.e. without the recipe) does work with mixed case names, which is why I'm asking. I can't figure out at what point the names are being lowercased. Dear all I've managed to install it, largely thanks to the hint from Andreas Jung. > I haven't got a C compiler installed - I assumed the purpose of the Zope Windows egg was that > I wouldn't need to compile? I found all the required packages on PyPI - but in two cases, the latest version didn't have a Windows egg. I changed requires.txt for the two packages to require a specific version, which have a Windows egg. This installed zope.security == 3.6.0 and zope.hookable == 3.4.0 without problems. My Questions: - Will the final Zope 2.12 egg have specific versions for its dependencies (otherwise, how do you get consistent installations)? - Is there an option in SetupTools that ignores versions of packages which would need to compile? This could be very useful for Windows users, who are afraid to compile. Otherwise, most things seem to run smoothly with Zope 2.12.0.b3 / Py 2.6 under Windows, apart from a few changed imports in (legacy) Products such as GroupUserFolder. I have a Plone 3.2.3 site that runs with Zope 2.10.8 and receive a security notice as follows. Is it sufficient to fix this just installing http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix-2008-08-12 ? Looking to increase confidence in my Backups

Ho there, I've got a backup strategy that seems to be working fine for me, but I'm ever looking for ways to increase confidence that the backups I'm making of Data.fs are actually functional and can be restored from properly. To that end, I was reading some info on this page: http://wiki.zope.org/ZODB/FileStorageBackup and playing with the fstest and fsrefs scripts referenced there. I've discovered a problem (I think). Here's the scenario: $ python fstest.py -v Data.fs Traceback (most recent call last): File "fstest.py", line 228, in <module> main() File "fstest.py", line 215, in main VERBOSE = VERBOSE + 1 UnboundLocalError: local variable 'VERBOSE' referenced before assignment The same error arises in using fsrefs, although there the line where the error is raised reads VERBOSE += 1 By changing the declaration of VERBOSE from VERBOSE = 0 to VERBOSE = 1 the error goes away, but of course you always get verbose output, which we don't really need or want for automated integrity checks, do we? Am I using the right tool for this job? Is there a better way out there to create automated integrity checks of Data.fs files restored from repozo-generated backups? zip_safe flag problem

Hey! I`m trying to build distro from package as uncompressed egg dir by setting 'zip_safe = false' in setup.py, but setuputils keeps making ziped version of distro anyway, that i don`t want. Any ideas? -- Grüße, Jonas

ZSyncer-0.71 problems

Zope 2.11, Python 2.4 The authentication issue has been resolved. Our Zopes run with Pound as a reverse proxy front-end. Current versions of Pound demand conformity to the http protocol which ZSyncer violates. The error returned was interpreted incorrectly as an Authentication Error. Connecting directly within the subnet resolved that problem. Now there is another problem. My setup has at the source machine has user:pass@<target-url><target-port>/zsyncerinstance as the destination and selects the ConnectionMgr and relative paths. The user:pass is a special user for transfers and has Manager permissions. In our setup, the zsyncerinstance is in the root directory so it should make no difference. Experimentally, it makes no difference--unchecking the relaive feature throws the same error.
