problem with commits in SQLAlchemyDA

Hi all, I wanted to use SQALchemyDA with a standalone Zope 2.11 (we only depends on CMFCore). i tried to get it up using easy_install, which is pretty straightforward, once removed the incompatible zope.component package needed in the dependencies. It ends up with the following installed packages (skipping zope 3 components) : zope.sqlalchemy-0.4-py2.4.egg z3c.sqlalchemy-1.3.10.1-py2.4.egg SQLAlchemy-0.5.5-py2.4.egg Products.SQLAlchemyDA-0.4.1-py2.4.egg At first glance, this works well, but the DA actually can't manage to commit any sql requests (I try only for insert in Mysql and postgres but I'm sure it's always true). This is quite an unexpectable behavior for a DA. I think the problem is related to this thread I found on tg-trunk newsgroup : http://www.mail-archive.com/turbogears-trunk@googlegroups.com/msg07302.html There is a misleading comment in the docstring of zope.sqlalchemy.datamanager.join_transaction speaking of a DirtyAfterFlush SessionExtension, which I never seen except in plone code. japanese encoding

Hi guys, I'm having trouble installing and using the japanese codecs (from http://www.python.jp/pub/JapaneseCodecs )with Zope on a shared host. I just can't seem to get the encodings available for the python used by the Zope install. Or, that is, I have installed the codecs and can 'import japanese' but whenever I try something like the following in a Python script: ---- import japanese #works print japanese #<module 'japanese' from '/home/USERNAME/webapps/zope/zinstance/parts/instance/lib/python/japanese/__init__.pyc'> #however there's nothing in /home/USERNAME/webapps/zope/zinstance/parts/instance/lib/python/ except a README.txt saying this directory will hold additional installed packages... should there be something here? text = 'blah blah' #okay text = unicode(text, 'utf-8') #okay text = text.encode('japanese.iso-2022-jp') #fails with lookuperror ---- LookupError: unknown encoding: japanese.iso-2022-jp This error also happens in an External Method. I have previously installed these codecs on an older version of Zope (Zope-2.7.0) (old-style instance) and Python (2.3.4) on a dedicated server, but am at a loss as to how to go about it with a Zope buildout on a shared host (Zope 2.10.9 on Python 2.4.3). The guys at Webfaction are also at a loss, and suggested I ask here. Anyone have any ideas? Aaron

unable to acquire commit lock

zope changes : dtml-var

Hi, it seems that there some of the options in zope had been changed. I have been looking in the documentation but did not find any explanation on what I am trying to do, which results in a formatting error message in new zope version, but worked fine in the older one. I have an input form, to which I provided a dtml-var as value,something like: <td> <input name="_valuename" size="20" value="<dtml-var person_name>"> </td> How can I provide as value now the variable <dtml-var person_name> ? It seems that there are substantial changes here. Maintain Last Modified during Copy

I'm looking for a way to copy content from one database to another without updating modification times. I believe the modification times are tied to transaction IDs which may mean this isn't possible. Moving objects does not update their modification times, but, it doesn't seem to be possible to move objects from one storage to another. One option that works is to copy the entire database, remove everything I don't want, and then pack it. But this isn't ideal. Hi, I didn't find a bug on launchpad (didn't search _very_ hard), but I also don't have a recent zope at hand to verify this problem is still there. That's also the reason I didn't consider filing a bug.
