problem with commits in SQLAlchemyDA

Hi all, I wanted to use SQALchemyDA with a standalone Zope 2.11 (we only depends on CMFCore). i tried to get it up using easy_install, which is pretty straightforward, once removed the incompatible zope.component package needed in the dependencies. It ends up with the following installed packages (skipping zope 3 components) : zope.sqlalchemy-0.4-py2.4.egg z3c.sqlalchemy-1.3.10.1-py2.4.egg SQLAlchemy-0.5.5-py2.4.egg Products.SQLAlchemyDA-0.4.1-py2.4.egg At first glance, this works well, but the DA actually can't manage to commit any sql requests (I try only for insert in Mysql and postgres but I'm sure it's always true). This is quite an unexpectable behavior for a DA. I think the problem is related to this thread I found on tg-trunk newsgroup : http://www.mail-archive.com/turbogears-trunk@googlegroups.com/msg07302.html There is a misleading comment in the docstring of zope.sqlalchemy.datamanager.join_transaction speaking of a DirtyAfterFlush SessionExtension, which I never seen except in plone code. ZCA / five / zcml overrides issue...

Hi there I probably missed some point about how this Component Architecture / ZCML config stuff is supposed to work with zope 2.10+ (actually Zope 2.10.5), ,so any hint or pointer welcome... Here's my problem: I use a third-part product (ContentMirror) that defines some interfaces and their implementations, and register the adapters in it's configure.zcml. It also defines a couple zcml directives, with actions that call component.getMultiAdapter to retrieve the implementation for these interfaces. I'd like to provide my own implementation for one of these interfaces. So I wrote the implementation, added an <include> of the ContentMirror package in my own configure.zcml, and an overrides.zcml with the registration directive for my own implementation: <configure xmlns="http://namespaces.zope.org/zope">  <adapter for="ore.contentmirror.interfaces.IMirrored ore.contentmirror.interfaces.ISchemaTransformer" provides="ore.contentmirror.interfaces.IPeerFactory" factory=".peer.ManagedSchemaPeerFactory" /> </configure> Bad luck, the whole thing then crashes when ContentMirror's own zcml directive are executed - looks like none of the adapter are effectively registred by that time (it of course worked just fine - but with the original IPeerfactory implementation - before I added this override). problem with ++resource++ on zope 2.9

I have a product that is working fine on zope 2.12 but on 2.9 I can't get it to work. my configure.zcml is <configure xmlns="http://namespaces.zope.org/zope" xmlns:browser="http://namespaces.zope.org/browser" > <browser:resourceDirectory name="EditArea" directory="editarea_0_8_2/edit_area" /> </configure> On 2.12 myserver/++resource++EditArea/somefile.js returns the file just fine but on 2.9 I just get a NotFound error. The product is sitting in the Products dir of my instance and I know it is getting loaded on 2.9 because the product is showing up in the control panel and its __init__.py is getting run. Any ideas on how to make this work on 2.9? Mostly this is just for transition stuff but it would be very nice to get it to work.

Problem Building 2.10.x

Hi; I'm trying to build 2.10.x on a CentOS 5.4 server. I get the error that I need to upgrade my Python from 2.4.3 to (I believe) 2.4.6. The problem is that I really can't do that using rpms unless I roll my own. Before doing that I wanted to consult you all and ask your advice. TIA, Susan PS Another option would be to build this on my Mac, but it doesn't look like Zope supports that platform.

Opening Old .zexp Files

Hi; I have inherited some very old *.zexp files that I can't open in a Zope instance. Apparently they were built on 2.10 or even older. The problem appears to be that there were all sorts of products packed into the Products folder that crash everything and I don't know which ones are needed. How do I begin to dig into this mess? Dieter Mauer's Reference Product

Our university relies heavily on a Zope product based on Dieter Maurer's "Reference" product. Recently, we upgraded from Zope 2.9.6 to Zope 2.11.x and found some changes in behavior. In short the Reference product creates a Symlink like pointer in the Zope hierarchy. Dieter's product can be found on his site at: http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/index.html#bct_sec_5.9 First, the security machinery now prevents access to attributes of References through page template path notation. For example, the following fails: tal:content="container/MyReference/property_name" Traceback: ... * Module zope.tales.expressions, line 217, in __call__ * Module Products.PageTemplates.Expressions, line 133, in _eval * Module zope.tales.expressions, line 124, in _eval * Module Products.PageTemplates.Expressions, line 82, in boboAwareZopeTraverse * Module OFS.Traversable, line 301, in restrictedTraverse * Module OFS.Traversable, line 232, in unrestrictedTraverse __traceback_info__: ([], 'property_name') Unauthorized: You are not allowed to access 'property_name' in this context Interestingly, the same access via dot notation works: tal:content="python:container.MyReference.property_name There were substantial changes to Traversable.py between versions which seem to cause the problem. Any suggestion on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Second, through path notation or URL traversal, References under the previous version of Zope would default to using methods / objects within the target before falling back to acquisition. Under Zope 2.11 acquired methods/objects take priority (only when traversed). For example, assuming there is an index_html in the root as well as in the target, and using the following code: tal:content="container/MyReference/index_html/absolute_url_path" Zope 2.11 yields the path to the acquired index_html: /index_html Zope 2.9.6 yields the path to the index_html in the target: /Path/To/Target/index_html Again, through python, both yield the second, desired output. I realize this is an obscure product, and the changes seem to have to do with the Five implementation. At this point we are looking for options to restore the desired functionality which does not require perpetually running Zope 2.9.x One option may be to change everything to dot notation, however I would at least like to understand why this change occurred. questions about migrating forwards

Hi list We have a legacy web service that is running on Zope 2.6.2 with Python 2.3.3 For various reasons - security, maintenance etc we have decide to try migrating this forward to a current version of python and zope. e.g. Python 2.6 + Zope 2.12.2 I have a new clean SUSE linux 11 installation with the correct python, setuptools and I am using virtualenv to create a sandbox I have installed the zope 2.12.2 and configured it in much the same way as the older system - (zeo with two data files, + 1 zope instance.) All is good and I can start up the instance and access the management pages. My next step is to get the Products list that we were using running. Here I have run into two problems 1. ExternalFile This fails to load with the error 'ImportError: No module named Interface' (stack trace below) I tested this with zope 2.11.4 and it works ok. 2. ZMySQLDA This fails with the message 'ImportError: No module named _mysql' again this works ok on zope 2.11.4 So I guess there is a key step that I am missing out or a path, or installation that is required. The main difference is that 2.12 is installed using virtualenv and then easy_install e.g. bin/easy_install -i http://download.zope.org/Zope2/index/2.12.2 Zope2 Are there known incompatabilities with these Products ? or is my installation just not quite right. IOError while importing a zexp file

Dear All, When I am importing a zexp file of 250MB through ZMI it gives this error, though I have many GBs of disk space availabe.
