I want to clarify something here. I'm not trying to customize the way Folders look in CMF/Plone. I want to keep them the way they are. What I want is to create a new special kind of folder that is distinct from the existing Folder type and has slightly different methods. It seems to me (and maybe I'm missing something) that you are talking about changing the way all Folders work. I'd be happy to be mistaken though. My impression is that what I'm after couldn't be accomplished simply with portal_skins but would involve getting into portal_types or something? > -- > > Paul Winkler > http://www.slinkp.com -- Mike

Re: [Re: [Zope] MAILBOXER questions]

Thanks all for the very valuable feedback. Yes, George has been great at Zettai.net, I am definitely confused on the various moving parts of this as a mail and Zope newbie. I will read more documentation, and attempt to clarify exactly what roles are played by the various components: qmail, ezmlm, and Mailboxer. Frankly I have no idea where one starts and the other ends, so any "in a nutshell" explanations will be greatly appreciated. I have gotten various commands to work within ezmlm to change various parts of the mailings (footer, header, etc.), and have been able to manipulate various settings like privacy, moderator controls, etc. The clarity will help me down the road, as I am having trouble figuring out some basic things, like: (1) how to figure out who has subscribed and unsubscribed to the list (where to access the logs)? (2) how to create HTML emails (I think I need a plug in to make this work, which I am going to install) Thanks again, Paul george donnelly <list(a)zettai.net> wrote: > [Duncan McGreggor wrote (duncan(a)adytumsolutions.com) on 9/12/03 1:28 PM] > > > Hmm, well this isn't mailboxer -- this is the ezmlm program that comes > > with qmail. OT: XML Diff
by Samir Mishra 14 Sep '03

Hello All, Slightly off topic - anyone know of any Python/Linux/win utilities or products that are the equivalent of 'diff' on Linux, only operating on XML instead of text? It would be nice if the results of this 'xml-diff' happened to be valid XML. TIA. Regards, Samir

Simple question?
by Tiller, Michael (M.M.) 13 Sep '03

I've been looking through Zope material (e.g. the Zope Bible) and most of it talks about building products from scratch. One thing I constantly find myself doing is say "What I really want is a new class of 'Folder' objects but that display, for example, some additional information when rendered". In other words, variations on the existing content types. It appears that I can use both ZClasses and Python products to do this. My problem is that I'm working with Plone/CMF content types and they seem pretty complicated to derive new content types from. If, for example, I just wanted to create a new class of folders but override the "view" (page template?), what is the best way to do that. I'd like to be able to do much of it from the web, but it isn't clear to me how I'd override something like the "view" (document_view?) method for python-based products. Anyway, I'm not asking somebody to tell me, step by step, how to do this (although I wouldn't mind :-), just some suggestions, pointers, etc. to help me get going. Thanks. -- Mike

Re: [Zope] prevent quoting in tal:attributes

Tom, You were right, and I was wrong. It turned out that the problem was JavaScript. I included it from another document via <script ... tal:content="here/myscript">, and I should have used <script ... tal:content="structure here/myscript">. Not using "structure" meant that many characters such as "<" and ">" were escaped, and browsers cannot deal with that. To sum it up, HTML entities are allowed and work in HTML attributes, but they are NOT allowed in JavaScript source. Still, the automatic escaping in tal:attributes obfuscates the HTML, and I hate that, but at least it works. Thank you very much, Tom! -- Milos Prudek _________________ Most websites are confused chintzy gaudy conflicting tacky unpleasant... unusable. .doc in zopedb /isa/mitchy
by Isa150183＠aol.com 13 Sep '03

If you want to force all browsers to download the document (instead of viewing it) you will need to set some HTTP headers in a script, and have the script pass through the document - instead of linking to the document, you will need to link to that script. how to do this ? thanks a lot mitchy !

Updating a form's variables through a Python script
by Don Mullins 13 Sep '03

Hi, I have a form: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <H1 align="center"> <img src="/images/blockbuster.gif" width=200 height=124> <br>New Customer Add</H1> <a href="/BBI/New Customer Add"><font size="1">Reset</font></a> <HR width="75%"> <P> <form action="." method="POST"> <table align="center" width="100%"> <tr><td>Customer ID:</td><td><input type="text" name="acct" size=20 maxlength=20 value="">&nbsp&nbsp<input type=submit name="Findem:method" value="Find"></td></tr> <tr><td>Home Phone:</td><td><input type="text" name="phone" size="12" maxlength="10" value="">&nbsp&nbsp<input type=submit name="getaddress:method" value="Get Address"></td></tr> <tr><td>Customer Name:</td><td><input type="text" name="name" size="50" maxlength="50" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>Bill-To Name:</td><td><input type="text" name="bname" size="50" maxlength="50" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>Address 1:</td><td><input type="text" name="addr1" size="50" maxlength="50" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>Address 2:</td><td><input type="text" name="addr2" size="50" maxlength="50" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>City/St/Zip:</td><td><input type="text" name="city" size="50" maxlength="50" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>Work Phone:</td><td><input type="text" name="wphone" size="12" maxlength="10" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>Driver's License:</td><td><input type="text" name="dl" size="10" maxlength="10" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>e-mail address:</td><td><input type="text" name="email" size="40" maxlength="40" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td>Notes:</td><td><textarea rows="3" cols="60" name="notes"></textarea></td></tr> </table> </form> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> And a python script that gets called when a submit button is pushed: from Products.PythonScripts.standard import html_quote request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE session = request.SESSION acct = request.get('acct', '') phone = request.get('phone', '') name = request.get('name', '') bname = request.get('bname', '') addr1 = request.get('addr1', '') addr2 = request.get('addr2', '') city = request.get('city', '') wphone = request.get('wphone', '') dl = request.get('dl', '') email = request.get('email', '') notes = request.get('notes', '') s = container.getaddr(acct, phone, name, bname, addr1, addr2, city, wphone, dl, email, notes) session.set('acct', s[0]) session.set('phone', s[1]) session.set('name', s[2]) session.set('bname', s[3]) session.set('addr1', s[4]) session.set('addr2', s[5]) session.set('city', s[6]) session.set('back_url',request.HTTP_REFERER) if session.has_key('back_url'): back_url = session.get('back_url') #container.New_Customer_Add #return s[4] #return back_url #return request #return RESPONSE.redirect(session.back_url) #return context.New_Customer_Add() #return RESPONSE.redirect('New_Customer_Add?name='+s[2]) return context.New_Customer_Add(context, context.REQUEST, phone=s[4]) #return context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(context.absolute_url()) Everything works great until I want to send the data back to the form. As you can see I have tried all kinds of possibilites with no success. Any help on how to get the form variables returned would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
