a login link
by Bryan C. Andregg 17 Mar '03

I'd like to provide a link, whereby clicking it would generate a login prompt and then return to the calling page. I thought I'd just create a script, viewable by only the people in the role that I want to login. I did this, and tried just to use, context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(context.REQUEST['HTTP_REFERER']) This doesn't work. Or I should say, it half works. If the login is successful, the page is returned but the user object hasn't been updated (has_roles() doesn't work) and subsiquent clicks of the link don't prompt for authentication. Can anyone tell me why this isn't doing what I want it to, or how to create a simple "click here to login" script? Cheers, -- Bryan C. Re: [Zope] pulling from another website

I believe that IFRAMES are now supported by all of the major browsers and are part of the HTML 4 recomendation (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/present/frames.html#h-16.5) I believe their premise also carries over into the XFRAMES draft. There are some general caveats for using iframes (generally the same ones for frames) in that frame to frame communication may be denied if the communicating pages are hosted on different domains and if security levels have not been changed to allow cross domain scripting/communication. This change would have to be performed on each individual machine and cannot be forced through by client side scripting. Does the ZOPE CMF Syndication option only work with RSS feeds? _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

Hi Carsten, using Zope behind IIS is not a problem at all. You have several options: - use URL rewriting in IIS - use the 404 script - use an apache server in front of iis and zope - .... Just search on www.zope.org for IIS + Zope or "Zope behind IIS" Volker -----Original Message----- From: TANNERT,CARSTEN (HP-Germany,ex1) [mailto:carsten.tannert@hp.com] Sent: Montag, 17. I use the IIS and Zope and want Zope to work behind IIS. (Win NT System) I created a Virtual Host Monster and tried every possibilty in IIS to rewrite incoming URLs but I really don't know what I am doing wrong. Can anybody help me, who had the same problem and solved it? Thanks in advance... Carsten

I meant to say that you need javascript with ordinary frames, not with IFrames. Actually, even with frames you could get away without javascript but then you would have to produce both a frameset and one or more frames, which would be harder. Cheers, Tom P

Problems starting zope server on boot process / Redhat 7.3

Problems starting zope server on boot process / Redhat 7.3 I am using zope on a redhat 7.3 vserver (server4free.de) machine for the first time. Up to now I have only experiences with zope on suse 8.0 (zope is preconfigured there). I am trying to get zope started at boot process. - I installed zope correctly on the machine. - changed all the necessary permissions according to http://www.zope.org/Members/markoer2/resources/howtos/redhat_7.3_startup . - the zope startup script starts the zope server correctly - created an init script zope at /etc/rc.d/init.d - registered the zope service with chkconfig --add zope But nevertheless zope won't startup on boot process. When I try to invoke zope manually as root by service zope start I only get env: /etc/init.d/zope: No such file or directory I don't' get any further. What did I wrong? Can you help me? Thanx in advance. Cheers Dominik Fischer

[ Gidon Friedman] > a little python program (on the filesystem) that uses urllib2 > is probably what > you want to do. i see a python product or or an external > method showing up in > your life very soon ;-) > Remember that you do NOT want to include an entire HTML page inside your page. that would give you multiple head and body elements, as well as - perhaps - multiple DOCTYPE declarations. So once you retrieve the remote page (I assume it is an HTML page, but of course it might be something else), the chances are that you will have to do some degree of processing on it. That is one reason why the frame alternative is attractive (see my previous post). Cheers, Tom P

Yet another Zcatalog question--PrincipiaSearchSource
by Chris Muldrow 17 Mar '03

17 Mar '03

Right now we've got our main Catalog storing only information about a Zclass, and it's only got one ZCTextindex--on PrincipiaSearchSource. I'd like people to be able to search the title AND the PrincipiaSearchSource at the same time--in other words, have both indexed. Is there a way to index both in the same ZCTextIndex so I don't have to keep two text indexes and combine searches into both? I'm thinking of trying to index some sort of method inside the Zclass that combines the two, but I can't seem to figure out what that method should look like--how do I say "concatenate title and data into a single piece of data that can be indexed"? And now to complicate things even more... Say I want to mix it up a bit and include pictures in my search. Our pictures have a property called Cutline that would need to be indexed. Could we trick the Catalog into also indexing Cutline in the same TextIndex? Or am I just talking crazy now? Thanks--Chris

When you are interested, please visit <http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope> and look for interactive debugging support. Some changes are needed to make it work for Zope 2.6.1. Dieter
