RE: Zope memory leak
by Jean-Francois.Doyon＠CCRS.NRCan.gc.ca 17 Jan '03

Chris, We could be suffering form the same bug, but different causes, I have a nagging feeling this one is burried deep :) Yeah, our Postgres connection gets used quite a bit actually. But I very much doubt that'd be it, there'd be a whole lot of people screaming! Nope, no ZEO for me, though it's an option for the future. Now that I'm graphing my memory usage though I hope to get some clues. I'm thinking I may be using something in my standard_html_header that could be the cause (it's used on the entire site). Do you use UserSniffer.py? I do have dtml-var's with Dates in them in there too (DublinCore dates), maybe there's a problem with some of the methods or objects? I'm not sure what IOBuckets are FOR, I mean Input/Output, but not sure where they're used ... Maybe figuring that out could help? I'm also recalling having problems with CMF, for instance, one CMF (The most used one) would stop responding, while the other kept going. Alllways thought that strange ... hasn't done it in a while, but maybe a useful symptom to look into. Stay in touch! thanks, J.F. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Muldrow [mailto:cmuldrow@fredericksburg.com] Sent: Friday, January 17, 2003 11:27 AM To: Jean-Francois.Doyon(a)ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca; zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: Zope memory leak I'm in a similar boat, but I think we might be seeing a different problem. Our leak didn't appear until we switched to 2.6, so I'm pretty sure it's not the AccessControl problem--it was supposed to be fixed in 2.6. And we have a PostGres connection, but it's not really doing anything right now. Are you using ZEO?

Transparent Redirect - Need To Allow QueryString
by Edward Pollard 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

I need a transparent redirection from one folder to another, to allow for proper bookmarking. Basically, different "Departments" have different points in a document tree, all keyed on a querystring variable. i.e. "docTree/index_html?dept=4" gives you accounting "docTree/index_html?dept=7" gives you IT Now, we want to give areas that don't have a homepage the ability to use this system as their homepage. That is "/department/accounting" gives you "docTree/index_html?dept=4". But, we want the URL to stay on the first visit as "/department/accounting". This will allow for users to stick the original URL in their bookmarks list. I found some good information on Zope.org, which gave me this code <dtml-with target_folder> <dtml-var index_html> </dtml-with> However, this code does not allow me to use the querystring ("?dept=4"). Can anyone reccomend how I can do this with DTML, or recommend an alternative solution. Edward

String as path?
by Gerald D. Anderson 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

Good morning (to those of you in my general part of the world). I have a question I haven't been able to find the answer to in any documentation. I'm creating a little script that will create 'Folder' items for user to put stuff in. I need to be able to set the "path" dynamically. What I have is: context.web.users.usertitle.manage_addFolder(courseNumber, courseTitle) I need to be able to set the item 'usertitle' dynamically (ie. from a parameter on a form). Or even better be able to construct a string something like. . .pathString = "context.web.users." + userTitleVar, then pathString.manage_addFolder. . . . Any help on figuring a way to do something like this would be very much appreciated, if I had hair, I'd be pulling the last few out. Thanks in advance, G

Problem with Int properties
by Jochen Haeberle 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

Hi, although I'am working with plone I guess i'm having a Zope-problem here... I created a ZCLass inheriting from Base Document, added some properties and added that to the portal_types. There are several different properties, mainly booleans and some int-files (which drive me nuts at the moment). Everything works fine, you can add my doktype, edit it and things get changed except the ints. If I change the values thru ZMI, they will be shown in plone correctly (therefore there probably is no bis misspelling), changing and submitting will not do anything (neither change to selected value nor set to zero always) Is there anything special one has to do with fields of type "int" I might be missing??? thanks in advance Jochen

Changing the privilegies to Anonymous User
by F. Troester 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

Hello, who kann help me solving my Zope problem? The problem is: As super user in Zope I call the method "manage_addProduct/ASECampaigns/CampaignClass_factory" to create a new instance. Despite of my maximum privilegies there is the screen asking for user name und password. Even if I enter these two data again, the following message is appears: "You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct. (Also, an error occurred while attempting to render the standard error message.)" The inquiry error_log results in: Exception traceback Time 2003/01/15 20:00:50.437 GMT+1 User Name (User Id) Anonymous User (None) As you can see, I am now a "Anonymous user". What's wrong? Can you give me an advice for establishing the right behaviour. Thank you to the aids Fritz

Zope bug?!
by Rares Vernica 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

Hi, I work in zope with FTP (from am external editor - EditPlus). I have a Product with ZClasses and inside a class a method "manage_page_header". If I open this method in my editor, modify something and save, the changes aren't saved. The problem is not from my editor because other files work OK, so I'm convinced that the problem is from Zope. Maybe a bug?! Regards, Rares _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus

Prob running Plone on Zope 2.6.0
by Raphael Arlitt 17 Jan '03

I can't run Plone on Zope 2.6.0 and I wonder what I did wrong. I first installed the latest CMF and then unpacked Plone subdirs to the Products dir. Anybody can give me a hand? ZPT: defining a universal variable.
by Alec Munro 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

Hi all, I have a situation where I have a script that I want to be able to reference from anywhere, with putting in the full path. The problem is, many of the places I need to use this script (it converts a number into a properly formatted currency(english only, right now), are in files that are loaded from other files which are loaded from other files. Here's a tree view of how I might need to use this script -index |_main_body |_content_area |_summary_box |_call to currency script My question is where do I define the variable so that I can use it anywhere? I get errors if I define it anywhere except the page template that is using it. I hope this is clear. Thanks, Alec Munro

Absolute url refs don't work with Apache ProxyPass
by Asad Quraishi 17 Jan '03

17 Jan '03

I have apache 2.0.43 compiled with mod_proxy configured with ProxyPass as follows: <IfModule mod_proxy.c> ProxyRequests On <Proxy :*> Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from my.domain.com </Proxy> </IfModule> ProxyPass /zopesite http://my.domain.com:8080/zopesite ProxyPassReverse /zopesite http://my.domain.com:8080/zopesite Which gives me good results when I type http://my.domain.com/zopesite - apache will proxy the request for the Zserver on port 8080 to port 80. However, all of the links on the /zopesite have absolute urls i.e. if I mouse over an object on the site (file, whatever), it shows the following url: http://my.domain.com:8080/zopesite/adocument and therefore goes to port 8080. Is there anyway to config Zope to not use absolute but relative addressing? Is there something I'm not getting?
