ImplicitAcquirerWrapper
by Antwan Reijnen 06 Jun '02

06 Jun '02

Hi all, I encountered a problem when trying to generate thumbnails from large images. My code is based on a chunk from zopelabs: def makeThumbnail(self, imagename, width, height): # get the original large image oriImage = getattr(self, imagename) # convert it to a file oriFile = cStringIO.StringIO(oriImage.data) ... etcetera It seems that oriImage.data is of <type 'string'> when a small image is passed, which is good. When a large image is used, the type of oriImage.data changes to <extension class Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper>... Is this a memoryproblem? Or even a memorybug? What is this Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper class? I use Zope 2.3.3 on Redhat 7.1. Appreciate any advice... TIA, Antwan. Big Folder Problem?
by Dan Shafer 06 Jun '02

06 Jun '02

I spent some time today reading over the future of Zope stuff. I ran across a mention of a Big Folder Problem. Can someone tell me where the limit is? If I create a folder with, say, 1000 DTML documents in it, am I going to be OK (crazy, but I mean otherwise)?

[HELP] ZServer Log file format
by flemaitre＠fede.generali.fr 06 Jun '02

06 Jun '02

Hello, In my compagny, whe use a software named "WebTrends" in order to analyse the activity of our sites (Zope and no Zope sites). It seems that Webtrends has some difficulties in analysing the HTTP log file of Zope. I didn't manage to find out where is specified the format of the HTTP log file. I would like to know the differencies vs the standard Apache access log file, or a way to know the format of Zope log file ? Can anyone help me ? Thanks in advance P.S : Excuse my english. Fred.

Re: Problems using fsrecover.py from 2.5.1 with 2.4.3?
by Julián Muñoz 06 Jun '02

Jean, I am intested, because I was just planning to use fsrecover.py taking it from 2.5.1 and putting it into 2.4.3 (the same as you). I have copied fsrecover.py (2.5.1) to fsrecover2.py in 2.4.3. Well, it seems to work, and a "top programmer" (in zope-dev mail-list) told me that it should work. So, do you think the problems comes from an incompatilibility of fsrecover.py with Zope 2.4.3, or is because your database was really damaged and fsrecover has done the "well" the work ?? Thanks !! Julián ----- Hi all I'm attempting to diagnose a Data.fs that might be wonky. Z MySLQDA
by Chris Africa 06 Jun '02

06 Jun '02

(Running Zope 2.5.1, Macintosh OS X v10.1.4, MySQL 3.23.49) Last week I set up Zope/MySQL, and I was able to connect to a MySQL database using ZMySQLDA. After I restarted my server, Zope & mysqld, I could no longer connect. First, I tried to reconnect to the database (a connection was in place, I just hit the "connect" button), but I got an error message. So I deleted that database connection altogether and tried to create a new one, but I can't. When I try to "Add Z MySQL Database Connection," here are the options I use: Id: MySQL_database_connection Title: Z MySQL Database Connection Database connection String: database myname mypassword This is the error I get Error Type: OperationalError Error Value: (1045, "Access denied for user: 'myname@localhost' (Using password: YES)") It doesn't matter which user I use, I always get this error. It also doesn't matter which database I'm trying to connect to. I know MySQL is running and the databases in question are working fine because I can connect to them and make changes with phpMyAdmin, and I can connect & edit them directly from the command line. I've tried all of my usernames and passwords, I've even reset them with phpMyAdmin, just to be sure. Help! Any hints?? -- Chris Africa University of Michigan College of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering Webmaster/Coordinator, Information Services 734.764.8482

access problem/security issue
by Robert Rottermann 06 Jun '02

Hi there, I have a security issue I am not able to solve. In a product I define a class: class PersonRecord (persistentRedPMBase): #security = ClassSecurityInfo() is_group = 0 is_type = PERSONTYPE firstname = '' lastname='' uniqueid = None def __getitem__(self, key): return self.__dict__[key] def getUniqueId ( self ) : return uniqueid def setFirstname(self, firstname): self.firstname = firstname def getFirstname(self): return firstname I can create and store and retrieve such records. However when I try to access one of its datamebers I get an access error You are not allowed to access setFirstname in this context What is my mistake ?? Thanks for your tips Robert

Thanks Chris, this is exactly what I needed. Problems with Database Connection.
by Antonio MATTA 06 Jun '02

Hi, I am trying to do an application with a relational database connectivity. I am using the Psycopg Database connector to a Postgresql database. Everything seems to run fine when I test the database connectivity, and when I write and test the Z SQL and DTML methods. But when I test the whole application I got the following error message: Missing input variable, first_name --> this is the first entry value Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Products/Hotfix_2002-04-15/__init__.py, line 51, in publish_module File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 114, in publish File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: AddressBook) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 98, in publish File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: insert_address) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: insert_address) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/OFS/DTMLDocument.py, line 127, in __call__ (Object: insert_address) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: insert_address) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Try.py, line 140, in render File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Try.py, line 149, in render_try_except File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/DA.py, line 414, in __call__ (Object: insert_address_data) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: <string>) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/sqlvar.py, line 99, in render (Object: first_name) Missing Input: (see above) Thanks Antonio. -- ANTONIO ALEJANDRO MATTA GÓMEZ WebMaster Facultad de Ingeniería Pontificia Universidad Javeriana - Seccional Cali Calle 18 No. 118 - 250 Av. Burning the SiteRoot
by ERIC Lawson - x52010 06 Jun '02

06 Jun '02

After downloading Zope 2.5.1, I installed it in a user area on my local machine (linux, part of an extensive intranet), started the ZServer, and began my usual test groping. The groping went swimmingly at first, but now I've hit a snag: I used the management interface to create a new SiteRoot with a base of the site which may ultimately be managed by Zope. Now, everytime I attempt to connect to machinename:8080 I get "Not Found" errors. I suppose I should've expected this, but...is there some way to back out, away from my overly hasty SiteRoot creation? thanks, Eric Lawson
