Hi all, I'm working on a news product and now i want to make a chain menu, which shows the brothers and sisters of the object. I have made a python method for this. I get back a list of three tuples : [{sortkey,object1},{sortkey,object2},{sortkey,object3}] The first listitem is the previous object, the second the current and the last the next object. The first item is None if there is no previous object. How can i implement this in DTML? Multiple published data from an object

I am rather new to Zope, which doesn't stop me from starting with a rather non-typical project: integrating a Python application into a Zope server to make it accessible via the Web. Until now that works much better than I expected, and I have found the answers to all questions in the documentation... until now. I want an object published with two representations: a standard HTML page, plus a data stream that causes the browser to launch some external program. I have managed to do both separately (the latter using RESPONSE.setHeader() and RESPONSE.write()), but at the moment the user has to press a button on the HTML page in order to start the second data stream, which is not very convenient. I tried calling RESPONSE.write() twice, but got only chaotic results. Any ideas? Konrad.

ZSyncer and virtualhosting

Hi, I have my development sites on a lokal Zope and defined a virtualhost for each projekt. so my master.site.com/manage looks like this RootFolder ProjectA ProjectB now I defined for each project a virtualhost which I can access with: ProjectA.site.com/manage now I want to sync this virtualhost with the production system, which is at www.projecta.com I created a Syncer instance in the root there and in ProjectA.site.com, where I specified www.projecta.com/Syncer as target-server. But when I do a sync it always uses the master.site.com as the root so it does not match the root of the virtual-host to the root of the production-host, but syncs to the root of the master.site.com, so I see that a ProjectA folder is missing there. If that makes sense to anyone, how can I achieve what want ? Or how can I sync a virtualhost to a realhost. How to get the variable in an URL ?

concatenate in dtml?

I want to put something like this in an index_html method: <dtml-if absolute_url & /Pics> <dtml-var picDisplay> </dtml-if> error message: Invalid attribute name, "&", for tag <dtml-var absolute_url & /Pics> how could it be implemented? then I can have some folders with a Pics subfolder and some without and it is all managed by a single index_html in the root folder. - Bill Kerr

Hello all: I'm trying to configure Zope with Apache in Suse 7.3. This distribution comes with all prepared to run Zope + Apache. I'm trying to make some nice (fancy) screens so that my users can edit DTML Documents without using the standard management interface. For testing purposes, I created a DTML document with a string property entitled "new_prop". I think you are on the right track in conceptualizing this; Zope does a very good job in making it easier to break things up into easily digestible small (generally) single-purpose components. Everything is an object in Zope, including granularly small single-purpose software components (like ZSQL methods and the database adapter objects they use, or python scripts, page templates, or user folders) that you place/arrange inside container objects (folders). You may want to strongly consider using Zope Page Templates (ZPT) instead of DTML; they are documented well in the 2.5 (online) version of the Zope Book. They keep code, generally speaking, out of the presentation, and even allow you to have designers create mockup that gets stripped at runtime. You'll get much better editor possibilities if you use ZPT because it won't break syntax highlighting in most text-based HTML editors, and will work with WYSIWYG editors without breaking layout. In your case, make your design, including some made-up mockup example data in the templates using ZPT. Write some scripts or ZSQL methods to get/set relevant values from content stored in the ODB or RDBs respectively. Then write business-logic Python scripts that uses the data (or write to data) and outputs something friendly for calling by a page template, like a sequence/list or a string as a return value. Once you have all of these components in place, use TAL attributes inside the HTML in your ZPT pages to call those middle-tier scripts. This process will get you two things: 1 - the ability to modularize everything into tiers with differing concerns, keeping application code, data-access code, and presentation code separate, and potentially create a useful division of labor. 2 - You can storyboard your application visually in HTML before your code is done (which is one of ZPT's main strengths).
