authenticated but user still anonymous

I have looked around quite a bit for this one and haven't found anything that helps. I have a 'raise "debug", (self.REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER)' in my product. I access a dtml method that in turn calls this particular function and after authenticating through the typical browser interface I see the "debug" statement above which shows 'Anonymous User'. owner security assertions

What would be the correct set of permissions and security assertions I need in order to make it so that in addition to manager only the owner of that object can edit it. It seems if I just gives the permissions I want to the owner role that doesn't work. If I assign someone to the role of owner they can do stuff in all of the documents which is not what I want. I had thought that owner was a role you got automatically on an object if you where its owner. This is on zope 2.5.1 with python 2.1.3 on debian sid. I am using the explicit security assertions on functions using the new security model in the zope developer guide. Is there anything special I would need to use with the more explicit security model to get that to work? Designing and building web applications http://webme-eng.com

Generating Graphs on the Fly

Hi all, Here's the problem, I want to use a python site-package called pychart to generate graphs for my laboratory. If I provide all the parameters required internally an the External Method, I can get the graph to be produced. To generate the graph I have a DTML Method (meth_1) which calls my_graph_external_method. To use my graph all I have to do is: <img src="meth_1">. But, what I want to do is to be able to pass in parameters to the external method, i.e. graph type, data, labels etc. so that the users can customize their graphs. However I can't pass in any parameters to meth_1. I don't really want to make the process 2 step by creating the file with one method and then reading it with another. Anyone any ideas? One approach is simply to incorporate them into the same module in the Extensions. problems with <dtml-in> (sort_expr)

Hello everybody. My problem: I want to reuse a dtml-method ("myMethod") that manage tables. In "myMethod" I have the next piece of code: <dtml-in list_of_dictionaries sort_expr=sort_by ...> where "sort_by" is has the "column" to sort. This work fine, but now I want to use "myMethod" to show a table and I don't want to sort it. Which is the value of "sort_by" that do what I want? I have been looking the answer on the ZopeShelf, on the mailing list and I haven't found it yet. Any suggestions? Thanks, Martin

Possible OT: sudden Netscape problems with adding objects? enctype?

Well, I finally uninstalled both Netscape 3.04 and 4.5 (this was on Windows) and re-installed them. They share a common bookmark file. I had no trouble setting up 4.5, but when I tried to open my bookmark file in Navigator 3.04, the browser crashed. Several times. The bookmark file was around 164K. I manually deleted some entries from it, got the size to around 162K (this is very approximate and based on the numbers in windows Explorer) and it was able to import it then. So, you're wondering what this has to do with anything. Well, I can now use those special enctype forms just fine, in both browsers. I didn't test it before cleaning up and importing my bookmark file, but it definitely works now. I only deleted one or two entries from the bookmark file, which has grown by a bunch lately. I'm guessing that, at least in Netscape 3, maybe the entire bookmark file was being held in memory, which somehow interfered with the creation of the temporary files Netscape seems to use for those forms with the enctype="multipart/form-data". So, if anyone has this problem in the future, I'd suggest 1) deleting entries from your bookmark file, and 2) reinstalling the browser. Thanks for your kind reply, Thomas!
