Problem with ZODCBD and Zope 2.51 (urgent!)
by Robert Rottermann 08 May '02

Hi there, I installed ZODBCDB (newest version for 2.4 with Python 2.1) Under Python 2.4 everything works fine. Under 2.51 when I try execute a SQL-Statement like select * from Employees where Name = 'David' I get the following error: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Error, sql.error: ('07001', -3010, '[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] 1 Parameter wurden erwartet, aber es wurden zu wenig Parameter \xfcbergeben.') --> Translation. 1 Parameter was expected, none where given ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- SQL used: select * from Employees where Name = 'David' ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- What is the problem? I am giving a speech on Zope next week and would like to show a DB connection to MS-Access. Therefore help is needed urgently. Thank you very much www.redcor.ch

Selecting an option in a drop-down list in DTML
by Richard McKinley 08 May '02

08 May '02

Hi, I have a drop-down list which is dynamically populated from a database lookup table using the <dtml-in> structure to iterate through the list of rows and add an <OPTION> to the drop-down for each row in the table. like so: <select name="Purpose"> <dtml-in sqlLookupResearchPurpose> <option value="<dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE">"> <dtml- var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE"> </option> </dtml-in> </select> I want to be able to add the SELECTED HTML attribute to a specific option which is determined only at runtime. Basically if the current value of research_purpose field equals the value of the purpose variable I want to insert the select attribute at this point. <dtml-if expr="<dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE"> == <dtml-var "PURPOSE">"> SELECTED </dtml-if> However, I get a syntax error. How do you usually test the condition when 2 variable are equal? Putting the code together: <select name="Purpose"> <dtml-in sqlLookupResearchPurpose> <option value="<dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE">" <dtml−if expr="<dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE"> == <dtml-var "PURPOSE">"> SELECTED </dtml−if> > <dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE"> </option> </dtml-in> </select> If anyone could show me how this is normally done or point me in the direction of any tutorials/how-tos etc. it would be appreciated.. Many thanks, Richard _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

My default index_html template is returning "Zope" when I call here/title In the ZMI, the title property is clearly set to something else. Does anyone know why this might be? Zope 2.5 Win32. T.

How do you code this in ZPT? > > <dtml-in objectIds() sort=id> > <dtml-var sequence-item> > </dtml-in> Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: KeyError Error Value: objectIds() This is precisely why ZPT is easier than DTML.

Acquiring object from Products instances
by Luca Manini 08 May '02

08 May '02

Hi, I've a product that defines a classe ageForm. I've a PythonScript that adds an ageForm instance to a folder. After adding the instance it calls a method on it. This methods tries to access an objects using acquisition. Image I have something like this: + f (Folder) + o (object to acquire) + i (ageForm istance) + s (script that creates i and calls i.m) so the script s is like this: i = f.manageAddForlder ..... i.m () the ageForm method is like this: def m(self): o.doSomething() the ageForm class inherits from SimpleItem.SimpleItem and from a simple Python base class. Any hint? TIA, Luca

Re: [Zope] passing method name thru form parameter

Try dtml-var instead of dtml-call. dtml-call discards the output from whatever it calls. I never had a need (so far) to test this, but I think you can do something like: <A href="?method=methods.method1:method"> method1 </a> <A href="?method=methods.method2:method"> method2 </a> and then in the script that gets called do: <dtml-var method> Ayhan Ergul PS: As a sidebar, you better know what you're doing before executing arbitrary methods passed thru url. The same holds for both approaches. --- In zope@y..., Dan Meszaros <dm@p...> wrote: > thanks, Hans, > > i had no problem with > <dtml-call "methods.method1"> > but it gives me no output :( i need to include the output of > methods.method1 to that dtml page. > > <dtml-call "methods[method1]"> seems not to be working, anyway. > > > > Dan Meszaros wrote: > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > i need to pass the method name thru the url, for example > > > > > > <A href="?method=methods.method1> method1 </a> > > > <A href="?method=methods.method2> method2 </a> > > > etc. > > > > > > how do i call the method in dtml document, that gets the method name > > > as a parameter? > > > > > > doing: > > > > > > ... > > > <dtml-var method> > > > ... > > > > > > doesn't help, it just shows "methods.method1" string. > > > > <untested> > > <A href="?method=method1> method1 </a> > > <A href="?method=method2> method2 </a> > > > > and later > > > > <dtml-call "methods[method]"> > > > > assuming methods is a folder > > </untested> > > -- __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Re: [Zope] [ANSWER] 500 error with IE on login
by Gregory Dudek 08 May '02

08 May '02

Re. my patch to zope to eliminate the default 500 error code: I considered a patch to the user folder product itself. Although I might have given up too soon, it didn't look feasible based on my limited knowledge of zope internals. I tried the obvious stuff but setting a "local" 302 or other code in the user folder didn't work because it got over-ridden later on the the authentication-catching process. Also, while removing all possibilities for a default 500 error from zope seems bad, note that in all those other (hypothetical) cases MSIE would also prevent you from seeing the potentially informative error page that zope might generate. In short, based on MSIE behaviour I think it's better if zope never generates a 500 error if it might also generate an informative error-message page. I might add this to the collector if I only knew how... > Have you had a look at the user folder you use in order to see where it > raises an exception (I guess that, but this might eventually lead to > HTTPResponse tacking the error 500 to the response)? > Maybe it's possible to patch the user folder(s) to set a 302 header?

how to access the owner of an object?
by Brian Lalor 08 May '02

08 May '02

Hey all. Sorry if this has been covered before, but I did some searching yesterday and didn't come up with anything. I posted this earlier on the zpt list, but haven't received an answer yet, and it occurred to me this may not be zpt-specific. I'm *very* green with Zope, but like I handle most new things, I'm learning by diving in head first. I'm trying to put together something of a weblog on my Zope site. Each entry is a File object. I'm using a series of page templates to display each news entry, and I'd like to be able to say who posted the item; I intend to have each File object owned by the user who made the entry. How do I, either via Python or within the template, access the owner of the object? I don't see it as a property anywhere in the object hierarchy of the File object. Thanks, B -- Brian Lalor blalor(a)ithacabands.org
