Form Help
by Todd Loomis 20 Feb '02

20 Feb '02

Hi all: Problem: When a user submits a form I look in my database to if the email they enter has already been recorded. If so I want to redirect the back to the form with a inputs filled in informing them about the error. If the email has been added before recorded the data and show conformation. I can get the error to go back to the form and place inputs back in the form, however the form want submit if all is well: This is the basic code: <dtml-if submit> <dtml-in duplicate> ##CHECK FOR DUP### <dtml-if "email1==EMail"> <SCRIPT FOR=window EVENT=onload LANGUAGE="JScript"> alert("The E-Mail address you entered is already in use, please provide another."); </SCRIPT> <dtml-var form>##PULL IN FORM FILL IN INPUTS WITH IF STATMENTS## <dtml-else"> <dtml-call add> <dtml-in userid> <dtml-call status> <p>Your registration request has been submitted for review.</p> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> <dtml-else> <dtml-var form>##PULL IN BLANK FORM## </dtml-if> Can this be fixed or a different way. Thanks, Todd

System Error from Zope Book Example
by Dan Shafer 20 Feb '02

20 Feb '02

On page 157 of the Zope Book is an example of using an external Python script to create thumbnails of graphic images. The main makeThumbnail script works fine. Creating the Python script makeThumbnails and running it generates a System Error "bad argument to internal function." Here's the script I've written, which I am pretty sure matches the one in the book: for image in context.objectValues('Image'): if not image.hasProperty('original_id'): context.makeThumbnail(image.getId()) Here's the dump portion of the error message page:. I'd appreciate any input you have for me. I'm completely bewildered. htmllib and my little remote webcache project
by Ed Colmar 20 Feb '02

20 Feb '02

Hey all! So, I've started on my little remote webcache project. Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas. Mostly I think it'll be a fun adventure, not because it has any real practical value. I'm messing around with htmllib, to parse out the page and (hopefully) rewrite the URLs to what they should be. I'm having trouble with it though. I havent fully grasped how it works. If someone could take a quick look at my code and see if I'm doing anything obviously wrong, that would be great! Essentially it's parsing ok, but I haven't figured out how to replace values, or how to get the data back out when it's finished. =========================== class ImageParser(htmllib.HTMLParser): def __init__(self, verbose=0): self.images = [] # Make some kind of storage class to hold the new values f = formatter.NullFormatter() # Not sure what this is for htmllib.HTMLParser.__init__(self, f, verbose) # Initialize the parser def handle_image(self, src, alt, *args): """This is called everytime we get an Image throught the parse """ print "[got image] %s" % src # Yay newimageid=createId() # Get a unique id for this image self.parsedfiletemp = self.parsedfiletemp + newimagetag # move the new image data into the new file def handle_data(self, data): """This is the data between the parsed cells """ print "got data %s" % data # YAY!! self.parsedfiletemp = str(self.parsedfiletemp) + str(data) # move the data into the new file def flush(self): """ The end of the parse? """ print "[got Flush] " # YAY!! # save the data or something. +++++++++++++++++++++++ Mostly this does what it should but it gives: Error Type: IOError Error Value: [Errno 5] Input/output error File /usr/local/dc/zope/Extensions/localpagecache.py, line 72, in handle_data Is there another way that I should be keeping track of the data after it goes through the parser? THANKS! -ed-

ZSQL and last_insert_id
by Chad Nantais 20 Feb '02

What is the right syntax for getting the id of the last recorded inserted with ZSQL methods? I tried this: SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID() AS last_insert_id The resulting error is: Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 226, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: last_insert_id) File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_test) File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: manage_test) File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/DA.py, line 400, in manage_test (Object: last_insert_id) File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/DA.py, line 378, in manage_test (Object: last_insert_id) File /usr/local/zope/2.4.4b1/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/DA.py, line 493, in __call__ (Object: last_insert_id) File /usr/local/zope/instance/Products/ZMySQLDA/db.py, line 252, in query OperationalError: (1064, "You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'last_insert_id LIMIT 1000' at line 1"

Error(200): python exceptions
by Cornelis J. de Brabander 20 Feb '02

20 Feb '02

I have a Zope server serving several applications. Some applications are still in use, though their authors have left the scene. I am plagued regularly by python exceptions of which below is an example. I simply do not know where to start looking. Can anybody give me a hint? Current setup: Windows NT Zope 2.4.3 2002-02-19T16:14:42 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <zhttp_channel connected 62.234.42.8:1113 at 2bbb72c channel#: 6080 requests:> (exceptions.ValueError:unpack list of wrong size [E:\zope\243\bin\lib\asyncore.py|poll|95] [E:\zope\243\bin\lib\asyncore.py|handle_read_event|383] [E:\zope\243\ZServer\medusa\asynchat.py|handle_read|113] [E:\zope\243\ZServer\medusa\http_server.py|found_terminator|456] [E:\zope\243\ZServer\medusa\http_server.py|found_terminator|152] [E:\zope\243\ZServer\HTTPServer.py|found_terminator|174] [E:\zope\243\ZServer\HTTPServer.py|continue_request|309] [E:\zope\243\ZServer\HTTPServer.py|get_environment|287]) This was the last exception I caught. I remember that before I upgraded from Zope 2.1.6 the exception was not a value error but an attribute error: exceptions.AttributeError:'int' object has no attribute 'send' TIA Cornelis J. de Brabander ========================================== Department of Education, Leiden University P.O.Box 9555, NL-2300 RB Leiden +31 71 527 3422/3401 brabander(a)fsw.leidenuniv.nl ==========================================

Re: Anyone know of a product that can...
by Tim Owen 20 Feb '02

20 Feb '02

Sorry about the @#%$^* previous non-text email. Got to figure out a way to turn the formatted email off by default... Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tim Owen To: zope(a)zope.org Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2002 10:00 AM Subject: Anyone know of a product that can... manage a directory of businesses for a local chamber of commerce (read this as very little $$$ to spend). Want it to be somewhat self managing (create a listing and manage a listing by the businesses themselves using a predefined format) but retaining the review and publish rights for manager of the site. Basic listing is no cost, but upgraded listings (extended information, link to another web site, inclusion of logos, etc.) would have a cost. Other functions required: category, location, and other criteria based searches, potentially include banner ads, email integration for information requests. Site could just use ZODB since the number of listings should be under 1000, but might grow to 5000. I suppose Gadfly or MySQL could be used if this seems large for ZODB. I was thinking about Formulator, Metapublisher, CMF, etc. but was not sure the best route to go. Thoughts?
