Transferring from one Zope server to another

I have a conundrum. I have a Zope installation on my local machine, which I have the admin role and filesystem access, and I want to transfer files to a folder on remote machine, that I only have the manager access to. Without filesystem access, I don't see how to use Import/Export to the remote machine (from worked great). The "Upload" button in Add/Edit has the kind of functionality I'm looking for, but I can't figure out how to access the files on my local server with it. (I'm using Netscape 6.2 for Linux, Caldera 2.4, if that matters.) Installing a new product would be very difficult, as the admin has little more experience than I do. Security is a major concern; I shouldn't be able to upload files to directories I don't have "Add files..." permission for. Have you tried going in as superuser? I think that when you log in as superuser, you can reset the password for your manager account. Security Settings for a newly imported Module

Andreas: As you have experience in this area, perhaps you could give me one last enlightening jolt. Assume for instance that you created a Product in ../lib/python/Products/MyModule and added fpformat.py to it. What security settings would you change via the product management screen in order to avoid the authorization challenge from appearing? PHP in conjuction with Zope?

So here's the scoop. I'm very familiar with PHP, and I've got a site nearly ready to roll in PHP. I've even got a stupid system for letting the content guy update the pages remotely in PHP. Problem is, I've just discovered Zope. It does so much more then what I had originally wanted (a secure file repository) that I'm looking into using it for managing the whole site. Just the ability to manage the files via a web browser kicks ass. However, it seems that the PHP tags in the documents I imported with load_site.py blow up because Zope doesn't understand PHP and doesn't seem to pass things back to Apache that it can process. Any ideas? Forget what I just wrote in the last response, bad idea. Andreas was right. It is just better to do it the hard way. I wish there was a place in Zope where the administrator could select what set of standard python modules that would be supported by scripts. You know, something with two boxes: the set of unselected modules on the left, and the set of selected modules on the right, with arrow buttons going each way. Then you would have a "restart" button to restart Zope and 'voila,' instant gratification. Just a thought... Thanks for your help, everyone. CMF Products

Hi; I'm trying to learn CMF. I've installed the product and the following products show up as correctly installed: CMFCore CMFDefault CMFTopic CMFPhotoAlbum (probably another product) but there is no "CMF Site" in the "Select Type To Add..." pull-down! What am I missing? TIA, BenO

Thanks Steve, that was indeed very simple. However, I have stumbled across an seemingly strange (at first blush) issue. There is a module called fpformat that will allow for floating point formatting. fpfloat.py is /lib/python2.1/fpfloat.py It is available to Products, but not to python scripts. My question is, if I do what Andreas says and have a product called FP, with a python file called fpfloat.py and an appropriate __init__.py script, will that interfere with anything? Instead, what if I modified PythonScript.py and simply added "import fpfloat" (and restarted Zope)? Newbie External Method - Python help

Hi all, I am trying to process some operations in a external method, becuase as far as i know, i can't import mysqldb in a python script due to security restrictions. Through a form I get the values of the variables and the action of the form is the execution of the external method. The external method starts comparing a value, so if it is equal to 'c' for example, other function starts and so on. The problem I have is that I would need to set the values of the form variables as global, so any function inside the external method can access to them. As I explicitly need to place a function name in Zope's external method manage screen, I don't know how to set these variables as global. Any help will be apreciated TIA Vicente Castelló
