http://www.zope.org/Members/BwanaZulia/ZUBB/ - Fixed the Zope 2.4+ "addIndex" problem (thanks Andrew Sawyers) - Added better previous, next on main view and new_posts - Added totals for posts, topics in main, new posts and search views - Added CSS with local_css - Fixed and simplified the search and placed it on the main page - Added icons for topics and posts - Hid the "expand_all=1" variable in the posts (item_index_html) so the boards will be more search engine friendly - Fixed a bug in the preview and added better preview (now looks like an actual post) - Fixed the cookie problem which now sets it at root ("/") so all boards will share cookies - Added a delete options for managers (easier to delete posts) - Added "batch_size" as a part of views so it can be changed in one place for speed (see tips) - Added lots of limitations on variables in title, author, etc. with "dtml-var variable size=30" - Lots of look and feel updates plus more (it has been a year plus! :) ) As always there is a ZUBB test board here: http://www.bwanazulia.com/discussions/test/ All suggestions, comments, flames welcome. Cheers & Happy New Year, BZ

dtml-if question
by Stephan Goeldi 03 Jan '02

I am pulling a list of names out of an SQL database to show their name and adress etc. In a specific zope folder are some pictures of SOME names. If there exists a picture for a certain name, it should be displayed. If not, there should be a placeholder. What is the correct syntax of this? What I think of is something like this: <dtml-in dep_cc> <LI><a href="mailto:<dtml-var EMAIL>"><dtml-var NAME></a> <dtml-if LOGIN.jpg> <img src="<dtml-var LOGIN>.jpg"> <dtml-else> no picture! </dtml-if> </dtml-in> _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

ZMySQLDA
by Ben Ocean 03 Jan '02

03 Jan '02

Hi; In building MySQL-python (so that I can get ZMySQLDA to work) I read the following: Finally, putting it together: $ python setup.py build # python setup.py install TIP: If you are using a binary package of Zope, you need run setup.py with Zope's python executable. Otherwise, Zope (ZMySQLDA) will not be able to find _mysql. What exactly does that tip say? Can someone write me an example line? What is *Zope's python executable*? TIA, BenO

I know this is easy but still i dont know how to do it! Ok here goes, I want to make a folder public to outsider (only for viewing the objects in it). but Zope asks for name and password. What changes should i make in the security to make it public. Sanju. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Re: [Zope] ZServer VS. Apache

> A) On installation, Zope installs Zserver. Is Zserver better than Apache? No. It is different. I personally host just out of Zserver because it is easier to set up, a bit faster and easier to move. I can tar up my installation drop it on another box and restart ZServer, no fuss or muss with Apache. > Does it run better with Zope? Can I do the Virtual Hosting with Zserver? Apache can do a lot of things through loadable "mods" that ZServer cannot. If you are just going to be using a 100% full Zope installation with all of the content stored in Zope you might as well just use ZServer. > B) We are currently using MySQL. Does Zope plug-in to MySQL by default, or > does it use it's on DB? ZODB is its own "object database" not a relational database like MySQL. There are connectors to allow you to talk from Zope to MySQL. > > We have 6453 files on our IntrAnet and 3003 files on our Public page. Is > this exceeding the boundaries of Zserver's capabilities? Not at all. It is a large amount of files so your Zope Database (see above) will be large. Make sure to put it on a machine with a good amount of RAM (Zope loves Ram). Cheers, BZ

ZServer VS. Apache
by Allen May 03 Jan '02

I am investigating moving our Public web site and our Intranet to Zope. I have two issues that I would like clarified about Zope. A) On installation, Zope installs Zserver. Is Zserver better than Apache? Does it run better with Zope? Can I do the Virtual Hosting with Zserver? B) We are currently using MySQL. Does Zope plug-in to MySQL by default, or does it use it's on DB? We have 6453 files on our IntrAnet and 3003 files on our Public page. Is this exceeding the boundaries of Zserver's capabilities? Thanks for any feedback. Allen May allen.may(a)mcsinet.com MCSi Web Admin 800.842.1702 x7628

Syntax Extras

Hi; A person named Coventry created a product to replace the <dtml tag with <: and I like that idea. However, I read in an archived post that it wasn't compatible with XML. Since the author hasn't returned my email, does anyone know if it complies with XML now? His product can be seen here: http://www.zope.org/Members/Coventry/dtml_shortcut TIA, BenO

installation problems on Win2000 with python2.1+
by Aaron Craig 03 Jan '02

Some time ago (Jun 21 2001, to be exact) Gianluca Pacchioni wrote to the list (I think it was this one) asking about installation problems for perl with zope. I came across the post today while searching the net for help on the exact same problem. I've added my discoveries to andym's great tutorial on setting up zope+pyperl+zoperl on Windows. You can see the edited page at http://www.zope.org/Members/andym/wiki/WinDows If anyone knows who should be contacted about missing files and non-updated makefiles in distributions for the Python/Perl project, let me know.
