LAST INSERT ID driving me crazy

Hi guys, HOW HOW HOW HOW!!! Do I get at the last_insert_id() function, this is driving me absolutely crazy!! Zope docs say use "select last_insert_id()" but it doesn't work, gives me an error about bad SQL syntax around "LIMIT 1000". I tried googling it, I tried searching through other docs. And it just won't do it! I would like to make a separate ZSQL Method that will return to me the last insert id. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. --------------------------------- Yahoo! FileStorage backup semantics are now "nice" with repozo, how would you back up related blobs? I guess I also have an irrational paranoia about separate files having the correct transactional semantics. zope 2.8.5 becomes unresponsive.

Environment is RHEL 3, Zope v2.8.5 (Python 2.3.5). Every couple of days the zope instance will become unresponsive and require a restart. ZMI is inaccessible at these times so I have to do run "service my_zope_service restart" in the usual redhat way. There is nothing in the logs, and if I do "service y_zope_service status" I am told "program running; pid=22671" This is a service under very light load. I viewed the chanelog for v2.8.6 and didn't see any changes that address this, and for various reasons I do not want to move into the v2.9.x builds. Any guidance appreciated.

ImportError: No module named CMFActionIcons:1.5

Hi all, I've just apt-installed zope2.8.6 and CMF1.5 on Debian Sarge courtesy of backports.org: zope-cmf1.5 zope-cmfactionicons1.5 zope-cmfcalendar1.5 zope-cmfcore1.5 zope-cmfdefault1.5 zope-cmfsetup1.5 zope-cmftopic1.5 zope-cmfuid1.5 zope-dcworkflow1.5 I believe Debian does things slightly different so here's where everything lives: Zope home: /usr/lib/zope2.8 Zope software home: /usr/lib/zope2.8/lib/python/ Instance directory: /var/lib/zope2.8/instance CMF packages: /usr/share/zope/Products I've created an instance and added a 'products /usr/share/zope/Products' directive in that instance's zope.conf but CMF is not being imported on start up, and I'm getting the following event log message for each of the CMF packages mentioned above: 2006-04-29T12:36:05 ERROR Zope Could not import Products.CMFActionIcons:1.5 Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/zope2.8/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 698, in import_product product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) ImportError: No module named CMFActionIcons:1.5 Any help much appreciated. sdt

InterfaceError: already closed

I have a Product which uses ZPsycoPG (and thus psycopg), currently running on 3 systems. On two of them I never see this, but on the third I get intermittent errors of the nature: "Interface Error: already closed". These errors strike pretty much from any area that access the DB, and "solving" the issue seems as simple as hitting the back button and trying again (and I'm currently using the standard_error_message to fire these back to a more user friendly page explaining this). It would be nice to make these simply go away though :) I've seen a few references here and there that such errors might be related to firewalls/proxying, and the affected host definitely is in such an environment, but I don't know that I buy that this is what is going on. Is anyone familiar with this problem, and if so, any ideas as to where to look? Thanks -J

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG V 3.1.9. TextIndexNG V 3 is a complete new implementation based on Zope 3 technologies and can be used both in Zope 2.8 or in Zope 3. What's new? - multi-field indexing and query support - multi-lingual support - configurable converters (through ZCML) - new indexing API (allowing you to hook your custom content types with TextIndexNG through Zope 3 adapters). Changes in V 3.1.9: - added explicit check for the existence of the extension module so TextIndexNG3 will now fail at startup time with an exception instead of failing when creating new index instances - added UI support for valid word separators - added IObjectWrapper interface to core indexer engine to provide generic support for objects wrapped into some kind of wrapper. The purpose of the interface is to attach IObjectWrapper to wrapper classes using five:implements without having the need to modify exisiting code. - added support to deal better with indexing CMF content where the content object is wrapped inside a CMFCore.CatalogTool.IndexableObjectWrapper instance. Defining constants for an Interface in a Zope2 product.

Hi all. I would like to be able to define an interface which specifies both methods and constants, something like this: class IMyTest(Interface): A = Constant(1) B = Constant(2) C = Constant(3) def aMethod(self, a_value): """ something """ A, B and C could be any meaningful constant for this interface, like possible return values for the aMethod. Then I could possibly test any class using and object which implements this simply by testing it against the IMyTest and if the return values are IMyTest.A, IMyTest.B, IMyTest.C. hello, i need to have the same object at different places, more properly, i need to refer an object at different places, in different folders, of my zope application (i use formulator, and i would like that when i modify properties of the "same" field in different forms, all the others are updated) is it possible ? thanks thomas

Atomic ZSQL on Zope 2.7.5

For some reason I thought ZSQL method calls were atomic, but they appear otherwise. Using an eGenix mxODBC Database Connection at /Database/PoPy_database_connection to a SQL Server 2000 back end, I have created a Python script to write SQL commands and feed them in one large string: UPDATE equip SET workstation=1 WHERE eq_id=39315; UPDATE node SET node='M28057' WHERE node_id=13451; UPDATE materiel SET mat_nm='mm-M28057-H-01', owner='mmaslak', datetime='2006/04/24 15:09:07.611 GMT-5' WHERE mat_id=39315; This all gets sent as one string to a ZSQL method where the first two commands execute, but the third fails because it doesn't like the datetime string, which indeed fails when I try it alone in the PoPy connection. Why, oh why doesn't the whole thing fail like I might expect? When I wrap the call in a 'begin transaction ... commit', it becomes atomic. Nothing happens if part of it fails. Great. But failure is not detectable by the Python script. I have used try/except and if/else blocks to ascertain failure. It thinks a non-commit is AOK, not an exception. Is this function of the eGenix ODBC? Of MS SQL Server 2K? Zope/ZSQL/Python? How can I detect failure and maintain atomicity?
