I think could write a python script (or dtml-method) which recurses through the subfolder and searches for ZSQL-methods. If it finds one it calls manage_edit(self, title, connection_id, arguments, template) with the right arguments. from zope 2.3.2's help: manage_edit(self, title, connection_id, arguments, template) Change database method properties. The connection_id argument is the id of a database connection that resides in the current folder or in a folder above the current folder. The database should understand SQL. The arguments argument is a string containing an arguments specification, as would be given in the SQL method cration form. The template argument is a string containing the source for the SQL Template. cheers, oliver

Re: [Zope] Authentication for outside users

See > http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/Security.dtml -- particularly > the parts right after Figure 6-1. Do you mean by anonymous user - role Anonymous, ie no roles? So when IP address is "inside" then user gets Anonyomus role otherwise user must have role? Idea is good but then I must give access for Anonymous which means everybody has access. Which means no IP blocking is done and I'm back where I started from... :( So I thought make two users - "insider" and "outsider" and give "Guest" role. Outsider has password and insider has not. Gave correct domains. And I removed all anonymous access. Still login is required from both. They don't get automatically that role like book says. Sven

CMFOptions 1.0 with Blark Weblog
by Jeff Sasmor 08 May '01

08 May '01

CMFOptions 1.0 has been released. It includes minor updates to the CMFExtFile and CMFExtImage content types, as well as a new content type called Blark. Blark is a weblog, similar in concept to Squishdot (and it looks a bit like it) but tailored for the CMF. It's not a CMF 'skin', but rather a CMF content object that is instantiated in a Member directory (it can even be the index_html for the member). Blark has been beta tested at http://www.yellowbrain.com/ (where you can try it out as long as that web site remains active) but probably still has a few nits in it. You can read more at: http://www.zope.org/Members/jeffsasmor/CMFOptions/ Enjoy! (sorry for crossposting, but the last time I posted only to zope-announce folks complained. Go figure. ) Jeff Sasmor jeff(a)sasmor.com Check out http://www.naggle.com/

RE: [Zope] zeo database

I don't think this is the case by default; the 2gb limit is a pre-existing limitation in ext2, which is the default filesystem in Linux 2.4. Not until Linux 2.4.1 did an alternate filesystem add features to remove this barrier (ReiserFS), and it is not the default. In addition to ReiserFS, SGI's XFS and IBM's AFS seem to address large file support and are all avilable as patches to the mainstream kernel. However, doesn't Python impose some sort of limit as well? Anyone have a number? Does this depend on the architecture of the machine (i.e. 64 vs. 32 bit)? Check out http://www.zope.org/Members/hathawsh/PartitionedFileStorage Also, if you run Linux kernel >= 2.4 there's no limit. _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Changing of the SQL guard
by Paul Zwarts 08 May '01

08 May '01

Greets all, I have installed a newer version of postgres on my linux box, along with the newer PoPy adapter and I have done some work in splitting out tables to separate dbs... The problem I'm faced with is that I have to reidentify all of the connections that each ZSQL method addresses to the adapter. Instead of manually changing each one (which are too many to count), is there a way I can do them all at once? The second db I use is very isolated so if I could just tell an entire tree to goto on db connection, that would be nice... I even tried using the same object name, but Im sure there is more hidden stuff behind its ID that this doesnt work... Can anyone help me please? TIA, Paz

Tim Hicks writes: > ... problem with "PropertySheet.getPropertyType" ... This might be a bug. I looked in the code at "OFS.PropertySheets". "getPropertyType" is very differently implemented than "hasProperty". "getPropertyType" looks at "self.p_self()._properties" while "hasProperty" looks at "self._propertyMap". This is very suspicious. At your place, I would make "getPropertyType" similar to "hasProperty" and if that gives you the correct result, file a bug report into the collector. Dieter

Setting SELECTED in select box
by Gitte Wange 08 May '01

08 May '01

Hello, I have run into this weird problem: I am trying to set an option in a select box SELECTED in the id of the option is the same as the value of the select box. The code looks like this: <SELECT NAME="fileid" SIZE="1"> <OPTION VALUE="0">-- Select mediafile --</OPTION> <dtml-in sqlGetMediafiles> <dtml-if fileid> <dtml-if expr="fileid == id"> <OPTION VALUE="<dtml-var id>" SELECTED><dtml-var filename></OPTION> <dtml-else> <OPTION VALUE="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var filename></OPTION> </dtml-if> <dtml-else> <OPTION VALUE="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var filename></OPTION> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </SELECT> Now when I have selected a file, I can see that the fileid variable is set. Well then the select box should select the file that has that id right? But it doesn't - it doesn't select anything. Can anyone help me? index_html a script, not a template
by Peter Bengtsson 08 May '01

08 May '01

[1st: Sorry for crossposting, but now it actually makes sense] Under the topic: "Relying on scripts" in Jim Fultons IPC9 presentation on Presentation Templates http://www.zope.org/Members/jim/Info/IPC9/PresentationTemplates/index.htm "Maybe scripts, rather than templates will commonly be URL target." -- from http://www.zope.org/Members/jim/Info/IPC9/PresentationTemplates/text20.htm Until the last couple of days I'have always made DTML Methods or DTML Documents for everything that users type into the addressbar like "index_html" or "about". I.e. I start with a template and most likely end up in a template. It shouldn't be like that, should it, always. Because some of my templates might look like this: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if "iscooluser_externalpy_orscript()"> <dtml-with foo><dtml-var showthat></dtml-with> <dtml-else> <dtml-with bar><dtml-var showthis></dtml-with> </dtml-if> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Recently my sites are filled with sometimes three times as many python scripts as DTML objects. And Jerome Alets Zshell really opened my eyes for loosing templates. Am I alone on using templating objects for URL-hitting objects? What are the implications (performance, scalability in terms of feature changes, etc.) of using Python Scripts or External Method instead of templates? Is there a paradigm shift with these promising Page Templates (see quote above)? Advice from people with zen?!?! Trying to see as long as possible, Peter

what is metadata?

Hi all, I see references to "metadata" in Zope Book and this mailing list, but no explanation what this actually means. Could you please give me a few examples of metadata in Zope, and definition of what is metadata? -- Milos
