AttributeError on SESSION

Okay ... I figure I've probably managed to really hose up my Zope instance somehow but I can't figure out what it would be. Whenever I'm trying to access the SESSION data, I get an AttributeError on SESSION. This used to work for me and on another Zope instance I have it does indeed work. I used the session test PythonScript from The Zope Book, as follows: secs_per_day=24*60*60 session=context.REQUEST.SESSION if session.has_key('last view'): # The script has been viewed before, since the 'last view' then=session['last view'] now=context.ZopeTime() session['last view']=now # reset last view to now return 'Seconds since last view %.2f' % ((now - then) * secs_per_day) # The script hasn't been viewed before, since there's no 'last view' session['last view']=context.ZopeTime() return 'This is your first view' (well, I actually started with other code, but this causes the same issue). This works as advertised in my other instance but throws the same AttributeError on my first instance. I'm assuming that I managed to delete and/or edit something important without realizing it. I did some web searches on this but didn't really turn up anything, pretty much everything I found assumed that SESSION was working :)

to inherit from CMFDefault.NewsItem

Hi, In my development I need a product which is basicly like CMFDefault.NewsItem, but I need to add a Selection field (SelectionWidget). Is there a way of inheriting CMFDefault.NewsItem and just add what I need? Thanks, Sergio

Why do you want to do this? Do you believe that this is more effective or efficient than the scheduling algorithm that Linux uses? Binding an application to a single processor makes very little sense at all. If Zope really is your limiting factor, then you need to spread that load over as many processors as possible, not lock it down to a single cpu - if you do that, then the rest of the processors sit idle while waiting for Zope to respond. Read up on ZEO. Then set yourself a ZEO server up and a couple of ZEO clients, balance your requests between the two using pound, apache or squid. I can guarantee you that if your system is Zope limited, then this will greatly increase responsiveness and the number of requests you can process simultaneously - I run over a dozen dual processor machines hosting approx 60 Zope applications across them, all using ZEO - an average of 5 or 6 instances per system, we have no problem with Zope only using one processor; the applications that are across most machines (up to 10 in our largest application) are very, very fast indeed and can cope with all the concurrent users we can throw at it. Your problem is not Zope itself... you definitely need to investigate further before coming to the conclusion that binding a Zope instance to a single processor is a solution - if you'll excuse me, that's a rather simplistic view to take. I was also suggest reading up on Apache, Linux, Proxying/Caching, Clustering and Load Balancing - they're all factors to consider when developing and deploying a web application. I know Twisted is used in the Zope 3 space. Has anyone experimented with replacing ZServer? A quick Google search turned up litte information. Pointers? Experience? --

display results from external source in zpt

Hi, Apologies if this is easy to do, cannot find any help in the archives (but then again not sure what to search for) We currently run a script on an external server which returns results depending on the userid of the user, which is added to the link below once the user logs into zope. It works and displays what is needed, however i would like to display the results somehow within a page template rather than the user having to go elsewhere to see the results. <a href="" tal:define="uid python:member.getProperty('uid')" tal:attributes="href string:http://site.ac.uk/cgi-bin/tasks?uid=$uid&fmt=plain">view results</a> Basically we would like to run above somehow but all results are returned within the same page. installation security best practice question

HI i am installing zope in on linux fedora core 3 however i am having problems when setting up the permissions. Currently i am installing zope as root and then logging in as a user and making an instance. When i go to run the zope instance as the user its says i do not have the permissions to run the files.
