The CMF developer community and Zope Corporation are pleased to announce the release of version 2.0.0-beta of the Zope Content Management Framework (CMF). This release is intended for testing purposes only; we do not recommend deploying it to production servers. The CMF 2.0.0 final release is planned for the end of March 2006. What's new in this release? This is the first beta for CMF 2.0.0, the latest feature release. In addition to countless bug fixes and minor improvements, this release features many noteworthy additions, such as: - GenericSetup-integration as the replacement for the CMFSetup technology started in the CMF 1.5-series - the use of Zope 3-style interfaces throughout, bridged back to Zope 2-interfaces where needed for backwards compatibility - widespread integration with Zope 3/Five technologies, and the folding-in of the previous CMFonFive addon-product - pluggable TypeInformation objects - new-style Actions What is the CMF? The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of services and content objects useful for building highly dynamic, content-oriented portal sites. This release marks the first stable release in the CMF 1.6 series and should be suitable for production use. What is the CMF? The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of services and content objects useful for building highly dynamic, content-oriented portal sites. As packaged, the CMF generates a site much like the zope.org site. The CMF is intended to be easily customizable, in terms of both the types of content used and the policies and services it provides. What's new in this release? The CMF 1.6 release series acts as an intermediary between the stable 1.5 series and the 2.0 feature release. It allows developers an easy upgrade path from 1.5 and the ability to take advantage of one of the most interesting features from the upcoming major feature release, GenericSetup. Where do I get it? hi, in a file index_html, I search to have the height of a image, but this, is in a subdirectroy called "images" After a request of a database, I have the name of the image in a variable "nom" if I write < dtml-var expr='images.'+nom+'.height' > the result is images.x0y0.height (x0y0 is the name of my image,) if I write < dtml-var expr='images.x0y0.height' > the result is 275 ok, it's the height of my image how to make to have the first sentence, but with the result is "275" ? thank - - -- by AlainBB http://www.barbason.be

image processing site quidance...

Hello Zopistas, I need a little guidance for a site that must make image processing on the fly. Users should be able to upload image files and after some pixels manipulation they should see the image preview after the changes and download it. I have installed PIL successfully for that reason (thanks to smiley Chris) so I can use it as an external method. I have thought to do this implementation uploading the file to the ZopeDB and change it there or should the file be uploaded in the local file system ? either way , what should I know so I can do that ? thanks in advance.

CMFExternalFile and huge ZODB pickles

Hi, I have a problem with one Zope application and have no clue what's going on. The problem is with one ControlledPage that creates CMFExternalFiles. It seems that each file is somehow included in ZODB pickle so Data.fs grows very fast. Only packing helps. The side effect is that transaction takes quite a long time so conflicts are very common. I tried to recreate the environment on the other machine and everything was fine despite the fact that I used all the same products. The only difference was that original app was running on Linux and I did it on Windows. Any clues? Products used: - ExternalFile 1.2.0 - CMFExternalFile 0.5 - Plone 2.0.5 - Zope 2.7.6 BTW, how do you distinct read and write conflicts in event.log? I only have INFO(0) ZODB conflict error at... Possible to run Zope on a shared host?

Hello, I've just tried to install zope on a shared host which is run by an Apache server. I have seen on the net, that there are 3 possibilities to run Zope together with Apache: rewrite_rules, ProxyPass and FastCGI. As far as I've seen, all of these 3 modules are already installed on the server. However, I think that you need to have root/superuser/...-privileges in order to use one of these methods, right? Unfortunately, I don't have any of those privileges... I only have write-access to my personal home-directory. Do you have an idea what I could do instead?
