dealing with scripts that take too long

Hi there, we're experiencing problems with certain maintenance scripts, which just take too long to complete, so that the browser resets the connection and Zope aborts the transaction. Short of splitting the scripts up into smaller pieces and running them individually (which would be a pain), what can we do? I was thinking we could send data back to the browser, but I cannot figure out a way to do this from a TTW Python script. How can I send data immediately, not only when I 'return printed' after all the processing is done. NPH or so, I believe this was called with plain CGIs. empty session with virtual hosting

I have a Zope 2.9.0 installation under Solaris. When I access the Zope site directly (port 8080) the session has the keys I expect, but when I try to do the same using the virtual host (port 80 has apache that rewrites to the zope installation) the session is empty. Do you have any hint about this behaviour ? thank you in advance! Luca

zopectl not starting properly

When I run zopectl start, it says daemon process started. But I get connected refused when I try to go to port 8080. Then if I check the process, I find zope is not running. Sudden Errors

Hey Everyone! I have run into a large problem. I had attempted to add a "Local File System" object to one of my folders. It displayed the following error and now I cannot access the parent container NOR refresh the tree view. When I do, the *second* error below is displayed. Zope and OAI-PMH

I've been assigned to integrate an existing academic portal in Plone with the OAI-PMH protocol as a data provider. Searching through this list I found the message below, but no response. context and URLs

Im working on a zope application where i have several folders, all at the same level (not parent/children). In one case a ZPT calls a script in another folder, which in turn calls another ZPT in the first folder again. My problem is that the base (?) URL (context?) which Zope prepends to all objects keeps building up (with the script folders name) each time this happens, and eventually something brakes probably because an object cant be found by acquisition. Example: links created by href in ZPTs is first http://mysite/folderA/object, then changes to http://mysite/folderA/folderB/object, then to http://mysite/folderA/folderB/folderB/object and so on... If anyone can explain this to me, or link me to some examples on how this should be done, i would be glad!

Zope 2.8.x and python security audit

Off Topic: Good linux editors?

Hi list, I'm fairly new to Linux (ubuntu server version) and simply hate VIM. Nor do I want to mind meld with the complex EMACS. I just wonder what Editors some of you prefer as you write stuff like external scripts, etc. thx, David

Error importing objects 2.8 > 2.7

*Been working up some code on a zope 2.8.0 install, and I wanted to move it over to a live server. I keep getting this error: Error Type: AttributeError* *Error Value: 'module' object has no attribute '__newobj__' The new server is curious becuase it reads: * Zope Version (unreleased version, python 2.2.3, linux2) Python Version 2.2.3 (#1, Aug 8 2003, 08:44:02) [GCC 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-13)] This was an RPM install as far as I remember. 2.7 I think Do I need to get 2.8.0 on this production box, or is there an easy fix to get this .zexp imported? thanks for any tips! -e-
