It is included in the zope-distribution or can be found at http://www.zope.org/Members/itamar/load_site It doesn't do XMLDocuments, but I found it a great help in figuring out how to inject a bunch of external files into zope. I guess you just have to change the relevant lines to create XMLDocuments instead of DTML-ones. cheers, oliver

Help - cannot import zexp

Hello! Please help, I have a problem importing my zexp. Initially I created the exported zexp while debugging some External Method. The method is declared as follows: def navigation_leftColumn(self, _, render=default_render): ... where default_render is a helper function, defined in the same .py file: def default_render(self, _, alist=None, indent=0): ... Later I deleted the entire folder and tried to import zexp to return to saved position. Zope raise the error: "Cannot import default_render from module __main__". Oops! What's that? The default_render isn't in __main__, sure. Passing lists in a get request (ZCatalog Search)

Zopistas, I have a catalog aware ZClass publication object that I want to have searchable. There are 3 criteria I want users to be able to select in addition to a search string textbox. I created field indexes for the criteria in the zCatalog, and made a form where users can select the indexes with checkboxes to limit their search. The selected items are then passed to my search method - which in turn executes a <dtml-in> to produce the result set. The whole thing works great, until I decided to try to add column sorting functionality (Like the zope downloads page). Here is the problem, I run the query and the page comes up correctly on the first iteration, but when I try to sort the column (with a ?sort_on=index "get" request), the selected criteria are forgotten and the entire result set is returned sorted. for example, one of my search criteria is "theme" - there are four possible (Air, Land, Water, and Waste). the request would look like: search?meta_type=Publication&theme=Air&theme=Land&theme=Water I can't figure out how to pass a list in the get request. How do I pass more than one theme to the method as a list? I have discovered through trial and error that I can pass it the values if I repeat theme for each list item. However, I also have a criteria - "category" with over 32 items, and a criteria - "division" with 14 items. This becomes extremely clumsy with "category=reports&category=guidebooks&division=lwm&division=aqd" etc. repeated 32 times. Not to mention that there is a limit of how much info I can pass in the get request itself. Is there a better way to pass the lists to my method? Thanks in advance! -Darin Lee

weird bug?

hi, one of the DTML methods i've created recently has started to create problems. the method adds properties to documents as people browse zope. it worked fine for a while but now it's causing zope to prompt for a password. i gave the method manager proxy which solved the problem on my test server but didn't make a difference on the intranet zope. the error generated when you click Cancel on the password prompt is "You are not authorized to access manage_addProperties." as far as i know nobody has changed anything related to permissions. is there some kind of bug causing this? the method is being run on version 1.5.2. any ideas appreciated. -<mike>-

Making lots of external data searchable?

I'm using Zope to re-vamp a web site, one of whose most important features is an archive of a reasonably busy mailing list, which is accessed using home-grown Perl CGI code. I've written Python code to let users browse the archive sorted by users, subject etc., but now I'm looking at allowing text searches. The »old« instance of the web site used Glimpse and a simple CGI script (in Perl) to do this across the whole site (including the mail archive) and ideally this would be what I'm after for the new version as well. However, the mail archive now weighs in at about 45 MB in individual text files (one per message), and I don't really see myself putting this into the ZODB so I can use ZCatalog. ZCatalog, however, looks good for indexing the rest of the site (I haven't done this yet). Is there a reasonable way of interfacing Glimpse with the Zope searching machinery so I could again have one-stop searching of the whole site? (It would probably be straightforward to search just the mail archive by calling out to Glimpse and massaging the results.)
