I'm a newbie, and I wonder : how could I use a personal Python object in Zope. I've a second question : how could I display (in html page) the results from the Pythons function ? thanks In advance ....

Hi Holger, Thanks for your help, Anothny Baxter has provided a way to do it and works (and of course, thanks to Anthony too). It was all because the DA of MySQL and Sybase does not work the same. Sybase handles remote databases in their own interfaces file. My fault in not very familiar with Sybase. Regards, Herbert

Hi Herbert, I have no clues regarding sybase, sorry. I am using a MySQL database which *can* run on the same or on a different host. But have you checked if there is a new Sybase DA on zope.org ? Furthermore, have you mailed this to the maintainer ? He/she might be interested in that you want to connect to a remote host. Maybe you will get what you want if you trigger the maintainter ... :-)) Can you switch to a different database ? If so, why not use MySQL or PostgreSQL ? Can not import XML export

[ A few days ago I started working with zope and I am really impressed. But now the first problem... ] I created simple folder containing a few DTML documents and methods, a couple of images and ZCatalog. Then I exported it using XML format. Now I try to import it into another Zope installation and I get an error suggesting some problem with XML tags. "REQUEST" a string object?

Arrggh! I'm getting very frustrated trying to accomplish something that should be easy. I'm stepping through all of the files in a LocalFS directory, and I want to dynamically create a <table> that displays all of the sub-directories of the current directory. I want to inject a "</tr><tr>" every so often, so I need to count the number of directories I've found so far to see whether I need to start a new row or not. I've spent a few hours digging through the list archives, so I know that creating a manually managed counter variable is not a straightforward affair. It thinks that REQUEST is a string, which of course doesn't have a "set" attribute. I've been banging my head on this all day and can't come up with an way to accomplish this trivial task. I don't want to push this into Python; this is simple UI code, not business logic, so it doesn't belong there. Besides, it's absurd to think that I would need to write an external method or some other Python method to do something as simple as this. (It may end up being true, but it's still absurd... ;-) ) Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time, rob

Hi! I searched the archives and found some entries, all concerning the same problem ... I read this: "LoginManager currently comes with a default User Source called Generic User Source (GUS), that is a GUF-like roll-your-own system. It uses GUF-compatible methods (userExists, userRoles, etc), so converting any GUF-using site to a LM site ..... " and wondered where this GUS is hidden and how I actually add users ?? (I'm still a newbie and want to know how it works!) Can somebody please help? TIA Wolfgang
