You know, I've always wondered why on the ZClass propertysheets creation page, you can export a propertysheet ... you can't import them. -- "Linux: the operating system with a CLUE... Command Line User Environment". seen in a posting on comp.software.testing

SQL Database, automatic form for editing and more

Hello, I am trying to put up an intranet for my company. I have the option of buying notes but i am trying to convice the team that we can replace it with a variaty of open source programs. So far i have: PGPnet, PGPDisk, Cyrus IMAP, MySQL, CVS. What i am missing is a platform to develop custom solutions, to put Customer Relationship management and training and to share resources. So, geting back to Zope: 1) I want to put in a folder documents and have ftp on that so users can share files. (Better than nfs or smb, i think). This way the same documents are also available on the site. 2) i want to be able to use databases for rapid development of aplications. Like for example, i have a table and automaticaly have the forms and pages to edit and display the table. So, to go deeper in point 2. The idea is to have lost of "objects" in tables (i want to have external access), and an editor (like the Microsoft Access table listing). Then if i want, i can build more specific editors, but i need to be able to have a generic editor for all the data. 3) Replication, i will have sites acros latin america and i want them to access the closest server in their country, so they dont have to wait. Does ZEO work? Thanks in advance. If anyone has any opinion or tought besides using zope, id like to hear them the same. Lucio.

If the file is on another server, there is going to have be be some way for Zope to fetch the file before it can serve it, for example by uploading the file through the browse button in the add file screen. --RDM PS: this is definately more suited to the zope list than the zope-dev list (the latter being for product developers and the like), so I've changed the cc accordingly.

Stupid Question Time

I think if I can get an answer to a stupid question it may go along way to opening my eyes to Zope. I need to understand the use of ',",(),[]. I think when you use single quote ' - it means to take as literal - don't interpret. Eg. 'A+R' is taken as A+R and is not calculated. But as for the others, I do not know how or when to use them. Anybody have the patience to answer this? The only known limitations are those imposed by Interbase when using Dynamic SQL, and our limited support for ARRAYs. String Substitution

I'm trying to convert data entered in a form to a format that I can manipulate later, specifically, I need to convert " (double quotes) and possibly ' (single-quotes) to the appropriate HTML substitute, like &quot . What's the easiest way to do this? Is there built-in Zope functionality for this, or will it be necessary to use an external Python method? Thanks..

how to stress test a zope site?

Problem with ZClient

I'm testing ZClient to access a ZSQL method on a NT box from a Linux box since Linux can't access any odbc (propietary) database. As ressult i become a bci.ServerError.
