Mailing lists available on a news server
by Steve Alexander 03 Jun '00

03 Jun '00

I notice that Mozilla has its mailing lists available for reading from a news server on mozilla.org. I'm not sure whether you can post to it too -- I assume so, and that there is a two-way gateway between the news and the mail. Any chance of zope.org having a similar arrangement? I know the mail archives are available in various formats already, but I want a way to read some mailing lists occasionally, that doesn't intrude on my inbox. -- Steve Alexander Software Engineer Cat-Box limited

creating a generic field gadget
by Graham Chiu 03 Jun '00

03 Jun '00

To help me with the tedious business of creating forms, I would like to make a generic field gadget. I thus have a dtml-document which has a number of attributes: Eg: fieldname = 'userid' fieldname-error = 'userid-error' But I now want this dtml-document when rendered to read the values of fieldname, and fieldname-error, and then generate the dtml equivalent to this ... <dtml-if userid> value="<dtml-var userid>" </dtml-if>> <br> <dtml-if userid-error> <font size="2" color="red"><dtml-var userid-error></font><br> </dtml-if> Clues? I presume the MetaPublisher product does this in rendering the dtml to another final dtml-document. -- Regards, Graham Chiu gchiu<at>compkarori.co.nz http://www.compkarori.co.nz/index.php Powered by Interbase and Zope.

newbie Q.stylesheet 'title'
by Brad Moulton 03 Jun '00

03 Jun '00

The 'title' that appears to the right of an object in a folder Does this need to be included in a style sheet for access. I have been messing around with the zope zclasses howto and notice the use of RTC to generate unique "id"'s to add some meaning to this they also use "title" eg. if one created a zope method and gave it a title how does this differ from the title definded in a style sheet. brad

Re: [Zope] Form POST Question (and a QUERY_STRING Q.)
by Andrew H. Chatham 03 Jun '00

03 Jun '00

> Is there a way for me to get the raw posted data and forward that > too via the RESPONSE object? What I ended up doing was following Zen's suggestion and creating an external method that basically does (not an exact quote; it's on another computer): def generateForm(self): outForm = [] for (name, value) in self.REQUEST.form: outForm.append ('<input type="hidden" name"%s" value="%s">' % (name, value) return string.join (outForm, '\n') It's a little more than that, but I don't have it in front of me. (this wouldn't deal with quotes right). I haven't run into the name="mynum:int" problem yet, but maybe that's just luck, or maybe it's just because of my particular forms. The bad part is that I don't know of any way to pass POST data on a redirect (anybody know how to do this, or is this impossible?), so for now I just have a form that's nothing but a Submit widget with all the other dat a hidden. You can of course change it all into GET data and just join them together using: '%s=%s' % (url_quote_plus(name), url_quote_plus(data)) and joinging with &, in which case you actually can do a redirect, but presumably someone made it POST for a reason, so I'm not going to mess with it. It's an inelegant solution and might not work for everything, but it's all I have for now! Andrew

Moeglicherweise gibt's noch einen groesseren >Raum, dazu muss ich aber erst wieder wach sein. Translation: Mornin, The question about the rooms is answered, and there will be rooms for your usage. More details will come tomorrow and on Sunday. So you can start with your preparations for the ZopeCon [Zope Conference]. Pretty fast: 1 room with chairs and tables: 28 seats; 1 room only with chairs: 50 seats. It is possible that there will be another bigger room, but to confirm that I have to be awake again [message was sent 1:00 am his time]. He also just replied that we will have Internet access in the rooms. Regards, Stephan -- Stephan Richter PlanDepot.com - Senior Application Developer and Technical Project Lead Cell: (901) 573-3308
