I would like to detect whether the client browser can render png images. I see the following from Netscape 4.61 HTTP_ACCEPT image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, image/png, */* HTTP_USER_AGENT Mozilla/4.61 [en] (Win95; I) and this from MSIE 5.0 HTTP_ACCEPT image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, */* HTTP_USER_AGENT Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 95; DigExt; btclick.com Build BTCFUNFD1) I know that MSIE 5.0 can render png's (by observation) and by report that Netscape 3.x cannot. Question: Parse HTTP_USER_AGENT to determine netscape/msie or do I rely on the apparently unreliable HTTP_ACCEPT? -- Robin Becker

No more than two threads?

Hi, My start script is; #! /bin/sh reldir=`dirname $0` PYTHONHOME=`cd $reldir; pwd` export PYTHONHOME exec /home/Zope-2.0.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/bin/python \ $PYTHONHOME/z2.py -t 6 -p 'Zope.cgi' \ # -D "$@" "$@" The Zope.cgi part works fine, as does the Zserver part (ie on port 8080). The thing is that if I do % ps -ef | grep py I get, nnle 17768 17767 0 12:57:37 ? 3:36 /home/Zope-2.0.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/bin/python /home/Zope-2.0.0-solari nnle 17767 1 0 12:57:37 ? 0:00 /home/Zope-2.0.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/bin/python /home/Zope-2.0.0-solari nnle 18963 18751 0 15:21:07 pts/10 0:00 grep py That means there's just two threads running, right? Anyone got any ideas? setting up a site find utility in Zope

I'm very new to Zope (on my 3rd day) and am trying to set up a web site find utility (similar to the one in the upper right hand corner of the zope.org site). I've searched the site and the mailing list archives but cannot find a place to start. Can someone point me where to start, or better yet, provide me with an example method for a site search? Aside: It would be great to see all of the methods for the zope.org site, are these available? I know you can see the DTML source, but I would like to see what's behind   etc... Thanks, Mark Mark K. Zope not listening to trinkets

This is in line with the previous email about the 'list' variable called 'things' that is giving me back ['my_list_item1','my_list_item2'] for sequence-items instead of just the strings. I looked at the form from which these values can and I am using: <input type="hidden" name="things:list" value=""> a hidden value that I got froma previous form (Which was also a list) The sequence-items show up as strings fine on the page with the above code, but when I try to use the hidden filed to move it to the next page, Zope ignores the trinket. The default DTML for DTML Methods is leftover from before DTML objects were split to make the distinction between content and method objects. What do you think would be good default content for a DTML Method? I suppose one answer is that it should just be empty, but I think that it's easier for those new to Zope when they see *some* kind of default rather than being presented with a totally blank slate and no direction at all. In any case, could you post this concern to the Collector to make sure that it doesn't speed off in the current of list traffic? I don't think Solaris 'ps' by default shows you threads, just processes (which can contain multiple contexts of execution -- threads). Passing variables to a DTML method ...

Could someone explain how to pass variables to a DTML method? For example, if I have the following in a DTML method: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('testvar', 'value')"> <dtml-var "calledmethod(REQUEST)"> How can calledmethod access the variable testvar? I thought that calledmethod gets the REQUEST namespace on thus <dtml-var testvar> would work. I read Amos' How-to: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/How-To/AdvancedDTML but I'm still struggling.
