Need a clue with UserDb

Hmmm...I need some help here. I have a folder, Upload whose contents are index_html (no acquired permission on 'view', Anonymous User 'view' = no, Owner 'view' = yes). This is the DTML Document that does all the good stuff like listing files and allowing uploads. ie it's the 'guts' of the system. acl_users (a UserDb folder) some assorted methods, ZSQL methods etc. If I go to the URL like so .../Upload/ (thereby calling the index_html DTML Document) I get the following traceback: (in the body if the page) An error has occurred. and in the comment...  However, if I use a URL like so ../Upload/acl_users/docLogin I get the lovely docLogin page that I composed and the person can authenticate happily, and as I made the ACTION part of the docLogin method to be /Upload/index_html the person can then start doing authenticated things. I can also call ../Upload/acl_users/logout and the docLogout document is called and the cookie crumbles. I thought I understood that UserDb would make authentication required for those users who don't have the 'view' role (ie Anonymous Users would get redirected to the docLogin document), obviously I *didn't* understand! Is my problem due to the Zen-Void in my nut or have I found a ... bug! diffucult question

Hey everyone, if anyone can help me with this i would be enternally grateful. This is the problem: On a form i have two dynamically created list objects, quantity:list and bikeID:list (pulled from a mySQL Db). Basically it is working as a shopping cart and when the user changes the quantity and presses the submit button the value of the quantity field in a mySQL database is updated. Now, i have no problem with the UPDATE statement or getting the two list objects through at the processing end, the problem i am having is that i need to associate the bikeID with the quantity so that the correct quantity is matched against the correct ID in the database. Normally in perl or ASP, you could set an incrementing counter that you could use on both form fields and then dynamically create the variable names on the processing side. However, i don't think you can do this in Zope and i am having huge problems being able to get the two variables together... If this makes sense at all, PLEASE HELP ME!!! migrating a site to Zope

Hello, I want to migrate an existing site to Zope. It's basically a portalsite for a city. A lot of the content is now in mysql-tables, of course it would be simple to include those also in the new site. But then I could not use ZCatalog on those, I assume. So what's the best way to import data from sqltables into a ZODB ? Perhaps sql-table -> xml -> ZODB ? Authorization error with for missing values ??

Hi! I've been trying to use DateTime values with ZSybaseDA, and have come across the following strange behavior: I'm doing a query to my database to get out data which includes a datetime field which can in some cases be NULL. (The field name is 'birthdate'; let's call the table, for the example, 'User'). I have a Z SQL Method selectUsers which does something like: select * from User which is referenced from a DTML Document like this: <dtml-in selectUsers> <dtml-var birthdate> </dtml-in> This works fine if none of the birthdates are NULL; however if birthdate is NULL, then I get an authorization dialog, even though I am already logged into Zope as a Manager in the top-level acl_users folder. The only way to get past the authentication dialog is to log in as the Zope superuser. What's going on here? I traced code to RDB.py, where it looks like Missing.MV should be substituted for any values which don't come back in the query results for a given field. The test() method of the selectUsers Z SQL Method handles things OK, but I don't seem to have permission to look at Missing.MV in a regular document... --Brian

Using Zope / Newbie Question

Hi, I'm looking for a Application Server to develope a eCommerce Product, I've heard quite a lot about Zope and read part the documentation; but before starting the development of a whole shop, I've still got a few questions: Can zope handle frames ? Can I display dynamical content in different frames, e.g. a product list in one frame and a product description in another ? Can zope handle different session of anonymous webuser (without username and password) ? I would be glad, if someone with more experience could help me. Greetings Joerg Herbst

DTML Documents vs. Methods--Again? Yikes!

Greetings: I've been trying to figure out the difference between DTML Documents and DTML Methods. I'm reading the available docs, but true enlightenment still eludes me. :-) What are the tradeoffs in using these two seemingly similar objects? For example (and please feel free to expound on this), why is standard_html_header a DTML method and index_html is a DTML Document? Are there ZODB performance issues? Zope FreeBSD distribution

Hi Is it possible to get a FreeBSD distribution of Zope somewhere ? Migrating between versions
