understanding Zope's memory usage

I am running a server with a handfull of plone intranet sites. The server has 4GB memory, but is now starting to page. What I notice is that the different Plone instances vary widely in there memory usage. For one site every process uses 400Mb, and there are 6 processes running! That is 2.4 Gbyte for one site! I see there is one deamon process that is small, and 6 processes that are big. If we call the six biggies a-f: deamon start a a starts b b starts c d e f c d e f are probably zserver threads, but what do process a and b? And why do the all have the same size and RSS? What are the alternatives to limit the memory consumption? Anybody who can enlighten me on this? Thanks, Lucas

newbie:cookie expiry problem

This may be very silly plz help I gave this cookie expiry statement in a python script: RESPONSE.expireCookie('login') return context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('index_html') but when i checked the cookie values in request page, it wasn't removed. the last redirect still worked. when i put an if like this : if (RESPONSE.expireCookie('login')) return context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('index_html') redirect dont work. where am i wrong. -- Share the vision of difference with ME

Thanks for the suggestion, I added the 'value district/district_code' now only. 'selected' is working fine . if i remove the 'value' thing its working fine. i also tried this ; option tal:attributes="selected python:test(distname==district.district_name, 'selected',''); value district/district_code" tal:content="district/district_name"> </option> as for the 'distname' test value() the def is: <body tal:define="distname request/form/districtname|nothing; So guess since value tag is not set so 'distname' is not being set. the select tag is : <select name="districtname" onchange="reloadPage()"> plz suggest. newbie : select tag value setting problem

I've this 'district' select tag .I'm getting the values usinga ZSQL method. I want to set the value of the option by the district code and the display the district name. I tried this : <div tal:repeat="district container/getDistrict"> <option tal:attributes="selected python:test(distname==district.district_name, 'selected',''); value district/district_code"> <span tal:content="district/district_name"></span> </option> </div> the drop down list is getting the district names but value is being set only once. i checked the request values and its giving the 1st list value everytime. plz tell me how should i use the tal:attribute tag here so as to get both the 'value' and the 'name' values as a list. -- Share the vision of difference with ME

too big data.fs

I have redhat 9.0 with zope on it. the size data.fs is 3.2 GB. my question is 1. how can find to size of folder and file inside data.fs, So i can ask the idiot who upload large file to zope to delete it. 2, Recentlt i often get troulble of losing network connection of my redhat server, is there any relation between the large data.fs and the disconnetion? Q: Embedding documentation in Page Templates?

In other words is there some construct which tells the rendering engine to simply ignore some content.? Session without cookies.

Hi everyone, Is there possible to use a Session control without cookies? I already changed the browser_id_manager and unchecked the cookies and checked the "Automatically Encode Zope-Generated URLs With A Browser Id" option. But it's just stops working. :( In addition, where could I get the Examples? The Zope book has a mention of it, but I couldn't find the URL to download the Examples. Thanks! Fernando Lujan

Security on email.Message.Message

Hi, I'm trying to import and use the email.Message.Message class in a zope 'Script (Python)'. DTML namespace problem (was: dtml-tree issue)

Hello, i have focused my problem on this: having a Python Script "testScript": ------------------------------------ class obj: a = 1 b = 2 c = 3 return obj() ------------------------------------ and a DTML Document "testWith": ------------------------------- <dtml-with testScript> <dtml-var a> </dtml-with> ------------------------------- when i try to view the DTML Document, i get an "Unauthorized" Exception..... I believe this has something to do with the security mechanism of Zope. What must i return from the Python Script in order for the DTML Document to work? Thanks for any help

Hello, I am using a ZOPE-based application on top of the ZOPE APE (http://opensource.ca.com/projects/zopeape) persitence mechanism (sort of binary storage). So the binaries are in the normal unix file system. I now need to extend my application to allow full-text search inside binaries document of the Office Word/Excel/PPT and PDF format. In the first step, I would be happy to find a tool/python/zope module that just tells me that a certain string is in a document, without telling me the exact place of that occurence. Do you have solved a similar problem or know any tool to implement this functionality? I am looking forward to your questions.
