I would like to cut the clutter in my directories, so have tried storing fragments of sql statements in lower directories. Now if the dtml is in the current directory it works fine. eg update main where  but if I try this  it likes it not. ------- Regards, Graham Chiu gchiu<at>compkarori.co.nz

In the management screen I use PACK and lost everything, I can no longer even manage the server to reload the pages. I thought reloading Data.bbb would restore the functions, but it didn't. Any ideas? I'm working on a remote host. Thanks. --Aaron

Adding documents in Zclasses

Ok, I've finally been futzin aorund with ZClasses. Wow, these are great! But, of course, I have aquestion. I have a folder-like object that I need to add some things to when created. I can add directories just fin, as well as blank(default) documents by modfying the constructor. The problem is, I need to add documents that have specific content. Such as: --- begin Hello----  <p>Hello, my name is . <p> Would you like to play a game?  ---end Hello-- This does not work if I put the above in the data section of manage_addDTMLDocument(id,title,data). Would I best be served by putting it into a file and then have the constructor upload it? If so, how? Where would it look for the file? Thanks. __ Bill Anderson

For this and any other operation not directly supported by the DTML "API", you can write External Methods to provide the service. Thread safe yes, but not atomic. In other words, the operation (done in an External Method or whatever) NewObjectId = Counter = Counter + 1 isn't atomic. This is really not of relevance here since only a _unique_ object ID is desired -- I didn't think of that when I said it mus tbe thread safe -- but in cases where you'd want a guaranteed _sequential_ counter, you would risk holes in your sequence as the interpreter thread could be pre-empted at any time during the execution of the statement. Now, I don't know if the Python global interpreter lock permit statements to be interrupted. Does it? product management question

Why does the "Distribution" tab dissapear when a Product is "installed"? (I think) This makes it difficult to manage products-- if I am working on a project and I want to move it to another Zope installation and then continue to work on it and distribute it again, how can I do this when the Distribution tab is not available? dtml question: xrange?

Is there a way to generate a range in dtml? (like the python xrange() function) Specifically, I want to iterate from 0 to a variable (comes from a form) using the #in tag. I couldn't find anything about this in the docs. any ideas? thanks, Kevin

Problems with Zope 2.0.0a4

Hi there. Since I read that Zope2 is the way of the future, I decided to try it out. I was pretty amazed by Zope1, so I thought it could only get better... Well, now if I try to delete something from the Zope-Root, I get Method Not Allowed The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /Zope. I have Zope running with Apache 1.3.6, and this setup worked with Zope1 without any problems, so I wonder why Apache suddenly denies the deletion. Adding Folders is no problem, and deleting enywhere else works also. Is this a known problem ? Bye, LeX -- Today's excuse: Due to Federal Budget problems we have been forced to cut back on the number of users able to access the system at one time. (namely none allowed....)
