sqlgroup sqltest combo - strange optional string behavior?

My apologies gentlemen... I'd search the egroups link off the zope site but it's timing out at the egroups site... so anyhow: I'm attempting to write a search interface for a table called company where the 2 fields recNum and recName are optional - along the lines of the sample in the ZSQL methods howto: :select * from Company : :  :  :  :  :  : Now if I enter recNum=1 and recName='' I get: :select * from Company :where :(recNum=1 : and name='' :) When I'd expect the optional tag in the recName sqltest statement should have removed the (and name='') line in the generated SQL. Any ideas? If it helps here's the version information I'm running: You are running Zope version: Zope 1.10.2 (binary release, python 1.5.1, win32-x86), on Python 1.5.1 (#0, Nov 18 1998, 12:17:58) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] on win32. How to use an existing Gadfly DB from Zope

Hi, I ran the dbtest.py of the Gadfly distribution in the var/gadfly/dbtest dir of my Zope-Installation. Then I created a Database Connection "test" for the dbtest database, the name of the databasefile is test.gfd. The I created a ZSQLmethod with this connection, with the simple query "select * from alldrinkers", when testing this I always get: Error, exceptions.NameError: 'ALLDRINKERS' no such relation in DB When accessing the same db direktly from Python like import gadfly c = gadfly.gadfly("test","dbtest") cursor = c.cursor() exe = cursor.execute exe("select * from __table_names__") print cursor.pp() exe("select * from alldrinkers") print cursor.pp() I get results. I agree, a million forks per day is not a heavy load, but I bet it's fairly measureable. Tack onto that the need for apache to pre-fork and re-fork servers all the time, and you could hit a pretty hard limit, but I am talking with no actual numbers here, I do seem to remember somewhere statistics on the number of milliseconds a fork took on various platforms and hardware... hmm, where did that go? Does there exist any methods in Zope to keep an auto_increment id on a Folder? I have written an external method for doing this. Hi! On the previous GIF animations for the PT: It's really a pain for me to go through those GIF animations. Not too many reasons, just the speed is far too slow and the telephone fee is far too expensive and the browser always behaves strangely. I'd rather you have some GIF frames been picked out to be shown there in the web site then I could go through them myself.
