Invalidating a ZSQL cache
by Kevin Carlson 04 Mar '04

04 Mar '04

I have a situation where I would like to configure a ZSql query to keep itself cached, but occasionally have the need to invalidate the cached object and force the next result set to come from the database. I have looked at the Da.py code and it looks like it would be possible to bypass the cache with a simple code modification, but that won't give me what I need entirely. Any ideas?

DCOracle2?
by Paul Winkler 04 Mar '04

Is anybody still developing DCoracle2? What happened to matt(a)zope.com? His mail bounces... no longer at zope.com? I wrote to Matt and the following message bounced... At upper right on http://zope.org/Members/matt/dco2 you can see "Latest Release: Pre Release 1", but that seems to be very old. AFAICT the latest stable release is actually 1.2. Maybe it's time to declare 1.3 stable? -- Paul Winkler http://www.slinkp.com Look! Up in the sky! It's PROTO WINO! (random hero from isometric.spaceninja.com)

Keys in Request
by Philip Kilner 03 Mar '04

03 Mar '04

Hi List, Can't figure this out - need help! In a Script (Python), I'm testing for the presence (or more precisely the absence) of a key in the request, like so: - request=context.REQUEST if not request.has_key('the_key'): The problem is that the test always fails (e.g. it acts as though the key is absent, even when it is not). If I modify the test to check for a form filed, it works fine. Virtual Host Monster mapping behavior
by Roy Hashimoto 03 Mar '04

03 Mar '04

I wanted to access Zope using HTTPS without using Apache (just because it seemed like overkill). I managed to get things to work using stunnel to wrap everything in SSL: stunnel -d 8443 -r 8080 and using Virtual Host Monster to rewrite the incoming URLs with an entry on the Mapping tab (instead of using Apache to rewrite): myhost.com/VirtualHostBase/https/myhost.com:8443/VirtualHostRoot This seems to work just fine (on Zope 2.7). My question is whether this is a supported use of the VHM mapping feature. The docs I've seen don't mention use of the VirtualHostBase and VirtualHostRoot elements in a mapping; they emphasize mapping host names to folders. Roy

File truncation after FTP
by John Poltorak 03 Mar '04

03 Mar '04

When I upload a file via FTP it gets shortened. Can anyone suggest why? The correct number of bytes is sent as far as FTP is concerned, but when I run 'ls' after the transfer the filesize is reduced. Is this to be expected or have I messed something up? -- John

persistence of search parameters/results for iterative searches
by David Siedband 03 Mar '04

03 Mar '04

I'm thinking through a library search interface that would allow multiple 'rounds' of searching where people could narrow their results by adding more criteria. There are a bunch of possible search parameters that can each have 0 or more selectors. (authors, publishers, keywords, publication dates, etc.) What I'm looking for is an efficient approach for creating persistence for either the parameters of the search or the result set. Here are some of the techniques I've cosidered: [1] Store previous SQL query as text and concatenate the new and/or logic. [2] Store the unique IDs of the existing result set in an array and filter results of next search for presence in the array. [3] Massive generic zSQL method with handling for all parameters ...using a bunch of <dtml-if parameter> and <dtml-if "_.hasattr(parameter, 'sort')"> to switch on and off the different arms of this query. Persistence of search parameters through sessions or <input type="hidden"... (this seems like it has way to much overhead, are there any benefits to this approach?) Any suggestions on how to create this sort of functionality? Thanks! -- David
