Hmmmm. Are you running Zope in the local system account (ie the default account for a service?) That account does not have rights to access a network, so probably can not authenticate against the domain controller. Try switching to the account of a user in the domain, and remember to give that user the 'Act as part of the operating system' permission. You had me convinced :) Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. I've tried using the PDC and multiple BDCs, uppercase and lowercase names, and using our domain name instead of a hostname - no joy. No real trick, just edit your zserver.sh to call z2.py with both a -p $INSTANCE_HOME/Zope.cgi to service requests from the PCGI mechanism and -also- a "-f 8021" to provide a port for FTP access. ZServer will then listen on both ports. I don't believe this is explicitly documented anywhere but you can see it in the source to Z2.py. You can even have ZServer provide web services on it's own port via the "-w 8080" *and* still use a -p option to listen for PCGI work. Why would you want to? One reason is to use the Apache/PCGI avenue for SSL secure pages and then ZServer-direct avenue for non-secure pages. -Jeff Rush

Dynamically Accessing Subfolders

I want to write a DTML method which iterates over all subfolders contained in a specific folder and execute a DTML method from each of the subfolders that were found. For example, suppose that I had the following folder structure: Folder A Folder B Folder C Folder D In each of the subfolders there is a DTML method called "myName" which answers some string value. For example, myName as defined in Folder B might be "I'm B". When I execute the method from anywhere in the folder hierarchy I want to get an answer similar to: I'm B I'm C I'm D Is there a method that I can call for a folder which will give me it's subfolder names? I'm assuming that if there was such a method, I could use a dtml-in tag to iterate over the results. If there is such a method, what does it return and how could I use that information to send a message to each subfolder in turn? Thanks! James W. Is there a way to use Zserver for FTP while using Apache for serving web stuff? (I tried to search the Zope.org site for "ftp" and got an error. Anybody know if this is a known bug or if it should go to the collector? dtml-var null

Does the 'null' tag in <dtml-var null="..."> actually work for anyone? I set it to put ' ' (among other things) in for a database query i'm working on, but it doesn't do anything. I get no output for that var no matter what's in the null tag. the documentation says: For this reason, the null attribute can be used to specify text to be inserted for null values. Null values are defined as values which: o Cannot be formatted with the specified format, and o Are either the special Python value None or are false and yield an empty string when converted to a string. comparing to Sapphire/Web

i everyone, i have an upcoming project that has to do with bluestome's sapphire/web product. i went over the website and, just like with most Zope competitors, it'a a lot of fluff and buzz but no hard facts like pricing or hardware requirements. has anyone on the list used sapphire/web before and has some insightful comments comparing it to Zope (which is much more my forte)? any comments appreciated :) jens Jens Vagelpohl Systems Administrator Washtenaw Development Council

(X)Emacs messes files?

Hello, I (surely) wan´t to use (X)Emacs for editing HTML and with Zope also as dtml Editor. I connect to Zope, load the file, edit and save. Problem: All Methods get DTML Documents after that and also lost their title! DTML Documents also lost their title. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround? Thanks, Carsten.

You could do this: <dtml-in "objectValues('Folder')"> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-var myName> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> This objectValues will return a list of Folder objects that are contained within the current Folder. These are the objects themselves, which is why you can then just go ahead and use dtml-with. The objectIds method returns the IDs of the subobjects. I think someone may have recently written a howto about these methods. Kevin p.s. It's good to see others in Ann Arbor using Zope!
