Adding CatalogAware objects with the desired path

Hi, Let's say I have an arrangement like this: Folder Object1 Method where Object1 is a ZClass that has CatalogAware as a base class. Let's say I want to add a new Object2 via "Method". So, the URL would be http://mysite/Folder/Object1/Method If I do this, in Method: <dtml-with Folder> <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['MyProd']"> ...stuff to initialize object... <dtml-call "Object_add(_.None, _, NoRedir=1)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> The object is created just fine, but what gets added to the Catalog is: /Folder/Object1/Folder/Object2 Understandably so... but is there a way to have the object added appear in the Catalog as: /Folder/Object2 ?? I tried <dtml-call "Object_add(Folder, _, NoRedir=1)">, but this didn't work. I have a feeling that it's actually the _ namespace that needs to change, but I'm not sure what kind of change would do what is needed... Any hints? Thanks, Kevin

You had me convinced :) Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. I've tried using the PDC and multiple BDCs, uppercase and lowercase names, and using our domain name instead of a hostname - no joy. ``Context sensitive'' table cells

Hi, I'm just starting with Zope, (as a lot of other folk around here, it seems) and I'm a bit ovewhelmed (same again :) Anyways, I'm in love, in just a few hours and just using <dtml-var ...> I built a (skeleton) site that I'd never would have considered even starting using straight html or something else less powerful. Again, as a lot of other people seem to be doing these days, I built a menu structure using tables. I'd like to have the background color of the cell that has been selected to change to a different color, to reflect where in the site you are at the moment. I came up with the ``code'' below: [ ... Lots of nearly identical rows ... ] </table> In the index_html documento in each folder mentioned in the anchor tag, I have set the title to the string I'm using the comparison. This seems to work (as long as I have unique titles! (not really that bad, as a matter of fact, but not really nice, either)). Clearly, all those repeated if's are something that would go, with a more conventional programming language, into a subroutine or macro or whatever. I tried to create a DTML method to encapsulate it, but I couldn't figure out how to pass to it the argument I wanted the title to be compared to. I think perhaps I'm still locked into a too conventional mindset (my being primarily a fortran programmer and all :) So, I'd like to ask if there is a nicer cleaner way of doing what I wanted to in the first place (ie, changing the background color of one particular table cell depending on which folder is being currently viewed), or alternatively how can I write a DTML method with an argument, to avoid repeating all those <dmtl-if>'s. Newbie question: Can't run on port 80

I've been running Zope 2.0.0b5 for a while on port 8080 under my own user id on my Linux box. However, I decided to try to run it on the standard port 80, but have not been having any luck. Here is what I did: - added '-w 80' option when starting Zope (i.e. ZServer) - 'chown nobody.nobody var' (to make 'nobody' the owner of the 'var' directory) - started Zope as su (superuser) It almost works, but right at the end of the Z2.py file where it tries to open the 'Z2.pid' file for writing, it gets a 'permission denied'. I'm not really much of a Unix/Linux expert, so I'm not sure what else I need to do to get the permissions set up correctly (BTW, there is no 'Z2.pid' file already in 'var' when I attempt to start Zope. I rm'ed it manually since it was owned by my normal user id from previous Zope sessions). Can any Linux gurus spare me a clue? TIA Dave Morrill

Seriously, Zope's acquisition permits movement away from these ridiculous thousand-meter query strings. There is no solid reason for a query string to be tracking anything other than search data and possibly user-session info if it can't be stored in a session cookie. Which means that someone's home page URI should never be more complicated than /index.html, and Zope is a good reminder that even that is unnecessary.

ftp howto

Hello, Where would be a good place to figure out how to upload images in zope? I want a user to be able to add a picture to a zclass (I have included Image in the zclass base class). I'm digging through the Squishdot attachment code for ideas, but it doesn't make too much sense to me. howto wrap a perl script

hi, i'm going to execute a perl script on another server, and i would like to know how to: 1/ wrap a zope (pyhton) method around it so i can use zope to manage authorization 2/ display the scripts output to the zope user. Any ideas on how to do this? or links to useful information? I haven't found any howto's for this, and you would've guessed: i'm not a pyhton hacker. I have been playing with this a little... I have (or have borrowed :-)) code that will mostly XMLize an RFC822 message, then put it in Zope... I think, if I or somebody can ever get the properties stuff for XML documents to work correctly, then you've got your database, a file format that is transferrable to whatever (XML), with all the headers broken out, searchable, linkable to others (chain up the references maybe???), etc. Any thoughts that anyone has on this type of application would be of interest...
