Problem with new Sybase DA

Hello everyone, I just got the new DA for Sybase 11.9.2 and installed it without any errors (I even imported the module into python successfully). Now when I try to run ./start, I hear some activity from the hard drive but the prompt returns and nothing is started. Anytime I delete the file sy_occ.so from the product directory, Zope starts just fine. This is what I have: SuSE Linux 6.2 Python 1.5.2 Zope 2.01 Sybase DAv2 Any help will be greatly appreciated.

hi, i'm a newbee to Zope . i'd like to know what purposes can a Z Class serve ? i've also been working on maintaining state ie session for a visitor. how do i go about doing something like, displaying to a visitor the number of times he has visited a particular page. please help.... bye, winston

When a subtransaction is commited, it allows the ZODB to move those 'sub-commited' objects to a temporary file if memory gets tight. This temporary file is probably filling up your /tmp filesystem. The solution is to set your commit threshold much higher, ie, commit sub-transactions less frequently. -Michel

reload page after form submission

hi, I have DTML Method (0index_html) that contains a html form - the 'action' for this form is another DTML Method : i.e <form action="added_announcement_html" method="post"> added_announcement_html contains a 'call' statement to INSERT the data into a MySQL database, i.e :   ,and contains a call statement to reload the original page with the newly added data. My question is this : is there a more way to submit the form and reload the page without making a second method (in my case added_announcement_html) to make the calls to the SQL and Redirect statements ? My folders are rapidly filling up with these sorts of methods and I would prefer to cut down on redundant methods if I can. thanks in advance, Darcy

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

OK, I am getting desperate here. I cannot figure out what is in the namespace from within an external method. I have an external method that uses the re module, and when I execute it from the dtml, I get AttributeError, value: __len__. If I execute the same external method from the constructor of the ZClass, instead of from inside the ZClass, it runs perfectly. How can I get the namespace of the external method to include all of python's normally accessible modules? --sam

Questions about ZCatalogs

Hello, I read in the zope lists archives that ZCatalogs support: - the 'andnot' operator; - a near operator ("..."); - phrasing. Is this acurate? I cannot find how to use any of this in Zope 2.1b2 on Win NT4. 1) The andnot operator If it is available, could someone provide a syntax example? This works: <dtml-in "searchResults({'title':'site and zope'})"> This works too: <dtml-in "searchResults({'title':'site or zope'})"> This doesn't return any answer: <dtml-in "searchResults({'title':'site andnot zope'})"> This doesn't either: <dtml-in "searchResults({'title':'site and not zope'})"> 2) Near operator Can you provide an example? And how does it work (How near is 'near'?)? 3) Phrasing search Does ZCatalogs support searching for an exact phrase, eg. "blue cars"? If supported, this would return only docs where the phrase occurs, not the individual words. I'm really interested in this feature. Could you provide a DTML syntax example? Many thanks. Alexandre

server stopping

Doing a little testing here... I have a simple dtml which reads a an oracle table and displays it's results. If I reload the document quickly (f5 on ie), the server stops responding. Note that this happens on zserver linux and windows.
