I've had this dicussion quite a few times before. I am willing to make mxODBC free for use in Open Source products like Zope. Use for other purposes would not be covered by the license though, so you can't just extract it from Zope and use it separately. DC didn't like this, so we didn't come to an agreement. That's just about what sums up this discussion. Note that mxODBC will go commercial with the 2.0 release. It'll be free for non-commercial use and there'll be a small fee for commercial installations. I have to take this step to finance further development on it, because keeping up to ODBC and the fast moving RDMS market has become way too time consuming. Sorry, but that's the way it goes... Accessing root folder from PythonMethods

You need to patch Zope 2.0 to initialize COM. I posted http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/1999-August/001389.html After that COMObject may work, but you may get better mileage out of external methods. Mailing list archives not readable with mutt ?

For some reason, you can't read the downloadable versions of the mailing list archives with mutt--it fails to split the mbox into messages. Strangely, mailx just works fine. I tried to use procmail's formail to split and concatenate the messages, but somehow that fails, too. Has anybody a hint how I can make the mbox suitable for mutt ? Gregor

Importing zGold not working

Hi, i am trying to import the zGold.zexp. Hare is the steps I am going through. Open Zope under the manage uername and password. while into the root folder I click on he Import/Export tab. In the import field I type zGold.zexp. I then click on the Import button. And I get this error: Sorry, an error occurred. Once again the selection property

Well, I don't want to bother you - and I really reviewed a lot (nearly all, I think) of the mails in the list and even the HOWTOs, but ... I still have no idea how to make a selection property properly. I'm making a ZClass with a property-sheet, in which there should be a property, that has a value you select from an ordinary select field. I generated it with type "selection", name "Status" and value "status_liste". (the error message told me to give a variable name as a value) And now my question: where do I fill "status_liste" with what kind of values? Hello again, after a week or so without any zoping (bad days indeed ;-) I have another problem with an automatic folder list: I combine some sites in one Zope site and have on the top page a list of the available sites. It's just something like <UL> <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])"> <LI><A HREF="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var title></A> </dtml-in> </UL> Well, no problem ... except when there are (and there is) folders, that are not accessible to the public. Then you can only view the hole page with a password. One solution is to make this page a proxy for "manager" (and as far as I see is there no way to do it otherwise, right?). Now I want to distinguish between a public accessible folder and an other one. In what instance of the folder do I find the information and is it accessible even when I don't have the right to access the folder? Zanks, Michael gutmann(a)uni-duesseldorf.de
