Help! Connextions...

Hello all. I am in need of some help. I recently got the privilege of taking over a zope database, and while I have been keeping it running for a while... I finally decided to upgrade to zope 2, and I got the old database converted, no prob, but when I try to run stuff from it it gives me a no datavase connection error. I see this broken object that used to be my database connection. Now, in zope2, I get this message that says "this object is broken because the ZODBCDA product that created it is no longer installed or is installed incorrectly. Please contact your product vendor for assistance." Now I perused the docs, and I saw a thing that said in the new version of zope you call a connection to the database each time... or some such.. and I know it has something to do with this but as to what: I DONT KNOW! Any help would be *greatly* appreciated. Especially if its a simple answer like "just click on the FIXIT button, ya dork! Its right in front of yer face!" =) "Thanks for yer time!" -Den -ps if you don't know the answer, or its too long to type, just a referral as to where I could find it would be mucho coolo.

[newbie] building DC Oracle

I can't see anything wrong, so I'll guess that the problem is something I can't see: 1. In Python, indentation has syntactic value. Is the "d" of "def" in column 1 of the line? It should be. 2. Are there any "special" characters at the end of the prior line? If you are on Unix, open the file with vi and look for stuff like "^M". If you see any, delete them. A couple of other points: 1. "Exact copy paste" may not be exact because of system and application differences in the handling of tabs and line endings. 2. You need to learn a little Python if you are going to use Zope. ZPyGreSQL error, pg.error, cache lookup failed -- resolved

This message is for posterity (for people who run into this problem and search through the Zope mailing list archives). In response to a problem I asked in this message: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/1999-October/012655.html about this error in relation to the ZPyGreSQL Database Adapter  Ross Reedstrom, author of ZPyGreSQL responded with this message: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/1999-October/012868.html and now I've finally gotten around to using Ross's info to solve the problem. The upshot is this is a PostGres problem not a Zope problem and it has to do with added functions. I added the check_primary_key and check_foreign_key functions found in the refint.so library that comes with the PostGreSQL documentation; these add the ability to define foreign keys in PostGreSQL (they currently aren't supported explicitly). You define the functions to PostGreSQL using the DEFINE FUNCTION command and add triggers against the appropriate tables using the DEFINE TRIGGER command. When you define the triggers postgres loads the functions and caches them against a trigger function object id (tgfoid). If you do a 'DROP FUNCTION' followed by a 'DEFINE FUNCTION' you invalidate the cache and you get the above errors in Zope or even the command line when the functions should be called. The solution is to DROP and re-CREATE the trigger definitions after you've DROPped and re-CREATEd the functions. This will set this straight. Obviously you don't want any DB activity that might rely on the triggers being there when you do this. Before you do the drop/create any attempt to perform a delete/update/insert that requires these functions for referential integrity will fail and your data is integral. After you have it fixed the delete/update/insert will succeed and necessary checks/cascades will occur. During the drop/create of the triggers/functions, a delete/update/insert could succeed while not preserving referential integrity. Cheers... pcgi-wrapper process on NT

Hi all, I sucessfully use zope as pcgi on IIS4.0. I tested my site, and I saw in the WinNT TaskManager that I have one or two pcgi-wrapper.exe process running responding to the hits. But If my site receives a LOT of hits, I see on the WinNT TaskManager around 20 pcgi-wrapper and they dont disappear!! Resulting on no longer I be able to access my site. Anyone had this problem?
