Not quite, I am lookinginto using ZServer/Apache together to facilitate this, My thinking is, use Apache/PCGI to manage http access and use ZServer to manage FTP access, this would then mean that users of FP could create a web locally and then when finished 'publish' it to the web via FTP. Hello, This is a test message so I can watch it get eaten by sendmail. The list apears to be flowing again, all I had to do was HUP sendmail on our list server. I'll keep my eye on it this morning. BTW, kudos to the anonymous informer who called me this morning to let us know, I was sort of half awake. :) Michel

Not only can do tag-level editing (with very helpful help and tag-building dialogs) but if you have IE4 installed on the system you can also do WYSIWYG editing. It can be extended in various ways, (new commands, toolbar buttons, code snippets, tag creation dialogs, etc.) It can do FTP uploads as well as editing remote files as if they were local. Perhaps building an add-on for HomeSite would be a great answer for the Zope IDE question. Imagine adding a tab to the toolbar labeled "Zope" or "DTML" with a collection of buttons for inserting Zopish things into the document... Apache/ZServer

Hi all, I'm sat here thnking to my self, 'surely I could use the apache version of Zope for HTTP and use the ZServer for FTP'ing all content to it'. What this would mean is that for straight DTML content I could use, let's say Homesite, an HTML editor on Win32, that has it's own FTP site management facility. Sounds good to me. Can anyone see any problems with doing this? Would Zope care if both the Apache and ZServer parts were running side-by-side? TIA Phil

manage_users - Error in acl_users

Hi, I have a DTML page that adds users to a folder, (trying to) give them only a specific, limited role. The code in question looks like this. I know it is overkill, but it is more clear this way. (inId passes the folder to give access to):       When the 'roles' variable is set to '', it works fine, but there are no roles for the user (obviously). When I set a role, like in this code, it adds the user, but when I go to the acl_users folder to look at the user details, I get an error, with this traceback: Sorry, an error occurred.<p>  Has anyone seen this, and is there something I can do to make this work? I am also wondering if this is not related to a problem the Brian Hooper posted on Jan 26, where he had trouble changing data for users. Brian, could you see at the details of the acl_users entries from the /manage screen? Thanks, JP jpglutting @ csptDOTes

external methods and REQUEST

Ok, figured it out. Thanks to everyone for the help basically (after playing around with it for a bit) I found that the following code: def dwName(self,REQUEST=None): "return the AUTHENTICATED_USER string" if REQUEST is None and hasattr(self,'REQUEST'): REQUEST=self.REQEUEST return "%s" % REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'] works fine when called with teh following DTML:  Now -- WHY it has to be this explicite I'm still unclear on. I understand that there's a difference between the dtml engine and the ORB, but what exactly is going on here is unclear. Moreover, MOST of the people I talked with thought that the code should work if called from soemthing like:  or even  However, to get it to work requires the dtml I provided earlier. What I'm wondering is, is this because of somethign local to my machine? If so . . .what? Often access to some content is contingent on registering, logging in, viewing a prerequisite page, etc.. A good example is using proxy roles to restrict access to downloadable files (e.g., software) to those that have "logged in" or registered on a previous page.
