Bobo/realm? [resolved]

I figured out why the realm wasn't being set. It turns out that if you raise an 'Unauthorized' exception in your custom validation method, it skips the code that adds the realm to the http header info in cgi_module_publisher (bobo) or ZPublisher.Publish (zope). The solution was to change the 'raise "Unauthorized"' to 'return None'. I originally used the Unauthorized exception as it seemed a way to shortcut bobo from looking up the containment hierarchy for other user databases. The truest XML-ish way we can think of (well, not true-est, but pretty truthful at least) is <zope:if condition="total_votes"> <zope:ifTrue>...</zope:ifTrue> <zope:ifFalse>...</zope:ifFalse> </zope:if> The else clause is its own block within the if and should be properly enclosed. It's tempting to be more pythonic and do if..else..end and have a floating <zope:else/> tag, but it kindof defeats the hierachical structure of XML. Or actually (as Jim Fulton just pointed out to me), something like a SWITCH or CASE structure is needed: <zope:switch> <zope:if condition="cond1">....</zope:if> <zope:elif condition="cond2">....</zope:elif> <zope:elif condition="cond3">....</zope:elif> <zope:else>....</zope:else> </zope:switch> This is why a pure XML variant of DTML like the above would most likely require a different engine than current DTML. I think this is better (and more powerful) in the long run than the <? ?> syntax which still feels hacky and would probably get limited support from editors as it is. A benefit of a pure XML variant of DTML would be that an accompanying DTD could be fed to an editor and then give all the tags to the writer. Full XSL support could be even better (especially with potential XQL support in Zope). Prevent image-reloading...

Hi All, I'm not sure if this is an generic HTML question or a Zope question so pls. bear with me! I've just been changing a site to switch from a frames-based layout to using tables instead to organise the page content (in fact the new layout has striking similarities to the zope site ;) ). One thing that's niggling at the moment is that the sidebar buttons are gifs, but they seem to reload every time another page is seleced, even though the URL for the gif is identical. This was fine when using frames, because the buttons would only load once and then they'd just sit there in the frame doing nothing, however, now using tables the whole page is reloaded every time, the GIFs are being reloaded for every single mouseclick :( I'm using IE4.01... in the past most gifs of this sort are just pulled out of a cache when they're referenced, is there a technique whereby you can tell a browser you want the gifs *not* to be reloaded? At least now I get 'from ZPublisher import publish_module' instead of cgi_ module_publisher... And from what i can tell, my problem seems to stem from the fact that my ISP has PyApache applied with an ancient Python. pcgifile.py has been showing me Python 1.4, and now I think I should finally pay attention. Seems they also are running an older Apache, so I may have my work cut out for me convincing 'em to change. Next question: Can anyone tell me if there is a way to by pass PyApache, or even if in fact the version number I'm seeing is actually Python or perhaps sumthin' weird PyApache tosses out? pcgifile.py output shown below. Bobo/realm?

Bobo related question here (yes, I'm still using it). I'm using bobo-2.1.4, pcgi, apache 1.3.3 (with the rewriterule trick for authentication and using a virtualhost), on a linux box (redhat-5.1). I can't seem to set the realm. I have... __bobo_realm__=members set in my top level module (the one referred to in the pcgi file), but my realm always stays 'unknown'. I also tried setting it like Zope does (via the BOBO_REALM environmental setting in the pcgi-file), but this didn't work either.
