Is that to allow multiple simultaneous requests? As explained above, no, just to read input from the browser and send output back to it. Zope2 is the push for concurrency. This involves two main areas: a concurrent publisher and a concurrent transaction system. The first area is ZServer, which as you can see is coming along nicely. The second area is the "BoboPOS3" effort to make the database and the transaction manager able to have multiple simultaneous requests. We expected to get the database work caught up with ZServer this month, but a customer project pushed Zope Classes up the priority scale. If a customer gig comes along the requires concurrency it will certainl displace other things at the top of the list. BTW, prepare to be dazzled by Zope Classes. www.zope.org doesn't support reget

An annoyance I noticed way back when I tried to download Zope 1.9.0: www.zope.org (and therefore Zope ?) doesn't seem to support the HTTP Range header, i.e. a reget (wget -c) for an interrupted download didn't work. Is this known, is this intended, is this still true, and will/can it be fixed in the future ? Gregor

[ZOPE.ORG] suggestion for download area (replacement)

Oops! I sent it before I was done. Here is the complete one. A frustration of mine: On the download page it would be nice to have an explination of what the software is for. Ditto for contributed software. For example, how do I find out what confera will do without installing it and spending a week playing with it? That is what I did with Zope. It is not the best way to sell software, even free stuff! Maybe there could be a second link to a document explaining what the component does. (It could be writen by the contributer of the software, so it wouldn't be much work for the zope.org webmaster.) That would be especially great in the contributed software. What are XMLConfig, MySQL Input Wizard, slashdot.py anyways! They sound interesting but I am still learning 10 other things, I need to know what they do first! This is the INFORMATION AGE, afterall! First, do you feel this is a general-purpose facility that Zope should provide? And no cheating just because *you* need it :^) It appears that your requirement is: Store some information associated with what a specific user is doing during a specific interval of work. Any solutions must: a. Be specific to a single user. b. Store information in a way that expires somehow, otherwise it doesn't just accumulate. c. Not give a performance hit. The previous Bobo discussion centered on creating Session objects that would exhibit themselves either as cookies or as pseudo-objects in the URL. --Paul

I just upgraded from 1.9.0 to 1.10.2 without a hitch on a 486/33 with Red Hat 5.0 Plus I added Confera, which is an _amazing_ product. Great job, Zope guys!!! Dumb questions: 1.) It would be ideal for me to be able to use Confera to allow people to post messages, and to have each message mailed to the subscribers of a private mailing list (since not every member would check the Confera pages every day). How could I do that? I am not a Python programmer (yet), so a clear suggestion with sample code would be _greatly_ appreciated. 2.) Is there any manual / HOWTO about access control in Confera? Specifically, how to give a bunch of users access rights to the Confera forums. Regards. [PP] Jose C. SYN??

I am getting a curious message in my system logs... Warning: possible SYN flood from 127.0.0.1 on 127.0.0.1:9673. Sending cookies. Is it just me, or does my Linux think Zope is attacking it? More importantly, could this possibly be a reason or symptom of these slowdowns I have been experiencing? Zope seems marvelously fast most of the time, but every now and again, when I click on a link, it slows to a crawl for 30 seconds or so before popping back up to full speed!
