Zope/IIS4.0 problems and a solution.

Hello Zopistas, I have found a solution to many of the problems that the IIS4.0/Zope combination brings. Microsoft prides itself on the clear error messages that IIS 4.0 presents, when the user makes a mistake. These error messages are implemented in the form of Custom Error handlers, that return a file, or URL to a user when a certain error occurs. This means, that when you forget to fill in an Id when you want to create, say, a new SQL Method, Zope's clear error message is replaced by IIS's totally irrelevant error message. Also, it completely breaks authentication when the user uses IE5.0 when trying to log into a secure area of the server. These Custom Error handlers are enabled by default. Luckily, the handlers can quite easily be switched off: Open the IIS website in the Management Console, and navigate to the folder you put the PCGI executable in. If you named your Zope installation 'Zope', it will be called 'Zope.exe'. Double-click on that file. A property page will appear. Select the 'Custom Errors' tab. Now, select every HTTP Error code in the listbox that doesn't have type 'Default', and click on the 'Set to Default' button for each one. This will disable IIS overriding the error message returned by Zope. Operation timeout under IE4.0

Greetings and salutations (though after that spam-ed Test message of mine many of you may be ready to salute my butt into high orbit), I have a feeling this may be old ground, but luck has failed me searching the documentation and list archives. My server setup is: Zope 1.10.2 (binary release, Python 1.5.1, win32-x86). IIS4.0 I have no problem using Netscape to access and fully use the management screens. The problem arises when I use IE4.0. I get errors on the order of (I got this trying to add a DTML document, I also get a similar error when adding a DTML method) : Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://pmatrix:9673/cgi-bin/ZopeDevel.exe/manage_addDTMLDocument The operation timed out. A couple of notes: 1) I don't seem to get this error when adding a Folder object. I'm not sure, but I only seem to have this problem with DTML documents and methods. 2) A proxy server is used on my local network for web access, but my IIS server is local and I'm pretty sure I've disabled the proxy for local access. HEAD Requests

Hi, My Zope isn't accepting HEAD HTTP requests. I'm receiving 404 'Not Found' errors. GET requests work as expected. Is it usual or is a problem with my configuration? Is there any way to fix it? I'm using the source Zope 1.10.2 with Apache 1.3.3 in an AIX4.1 machine. This is very serious! Search engines robots usually first make a HEAD request and, just if the file has changed, makes the GET. copy error?

Hey all, On my home installation of Zope (see below for system specs), I can't seem to cut/copy/paste. Whenever I cut or copy somthing it never sticks. The paste button appears on the screen refresh, but it disappears as soon as I go into another folder. And if I just hit the paste button while its there, I always get the error below. Specs: Debian 2.1 glibc2.0.7 linux 2.2.6 Zope binary distributioin 1.10.2 netscape 4.5 apache 1.3.3 w/ pcgi ! No clipboard data found. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? BTW, I just tried with 1.11.0pre1 and it still doesn't work (the traceback is different, but basically the same error). upgrading to 1.11

External method building a ksh script

I am puzzled on this. To further things a bit, check my last message to the list. Here's a paraphrased uname, if it helps: Linux --- 2.0.36 #1 Mon Mar 15 14:23:33 CST 1999 i686 unknown Running Zope 1.10.2, var is located at /tmp to get past nfs. Python version 1.5.1. Apache/1.2.6. Anything else you need? I'm having really weird problems now. Look at my 'span-is implication' message. I feel the EEXISTS is somehow tied in to the indentation thing. At least it is triggered by attempting to view the indented version of index_html. Any thoughts? Thanks again, Chris

OK, here's a weird one. Things have been going fine for the last few days, then all of a sudden the world collapsed. I've been indenting my DTML with straight 'tab' characters, working in Netscape. Not had a problem. Now, all of a sudden today, when I call things that are indented, Zope hangs, eventually (and I do mean 'eventually') returning a 'Document contains no data, and pcgi.log shows: 'pcgi-wrapper: Failed to start resource (118) lock error: EEXIST' I am using the same browser, working on the same code, but all of a sudden can't indent. (At least I think that's what is going on.) And example: The first example chokes Zope with this mysterious EEXIST, while the second version works great. What gives? Boolean

Zopsters: After reading again for a boolean info the DTML docs, I can't seem to see the best route to test in DTML. I tried a simple , didn't work I thought, since bolean deal with 1 and 0, I'd use  for true and  for false. That didn't work either. If I however used blank or '' as the search criteria it worked, as in  for true, and nothing for false. Whats going on with boolean, and can somebody point in the right direction?
