External Methods problem

I'm trying to get my first External Method working.  The error I'm getting is:   This is on: Zope version: (unreleased version) Python version: 1.5.2 (#1, May 28 1999, 14:49:17) [GCC 2.7.2.3] System Platform: linux2 Process ID: 24244 Running for: 3 min 44 sec I just upgraded to 2.0.0a1 from 1.10.2-linux-x86 in hopes of fixing this. I saw a post on the list and a mention in the bug db which mentioned this error, and suggested that it was related to change in the way exceptions are handled. It looks to mee that the data is being passed correctly, though it doesn't seem to be getting to the external method SQLTimeDiff. Zclasses

Can anyone give me a simple walkthrough for Zclasses? An initial (and trivial) example could be to create a new object from 'image', called, say, 'picture', with an added long description (textarea) property. Or adding a new property to the User object. Or something. Once I grok ZClasses zen, I'll be happy to write up a How-To or two. Michael Bernstein.

problem with mime-types and IE4

Hey all - I'm seeing what's probably some sort of bug in IE4, but if I can find a work around, it's save me a ton or arguing with people. The observation is that if I put a binary file into a Zope store (1.11.0pr1, with some CVS patches), i.e. anything with a mimetype that's not */text, I can't upload or download with IE4, through an Apache server. I have no problems with Netscape, but IE4 chokes - either upload or download. IE5 works. If I serve the same file from straight from Apache, it works fine. I used ZClient to grab the HTTP headers when served each way, but I can't seem to find a problem: This one works: server: Apache/1.3.6 (Unix) Debian/GNU content-type: application/msword accept-ranges: bytes date: Fri, 28 May 1999 21:26:19 GMT connection: close etag: "380b-3200-374eff5f" content-length: 12800 last-modified: Fri, 28 May 1999 20:41:03 GMT This one doesn't: server: Apache/1.3.6 Ben-SSL/1.32 (Unix) Debian/GNU vary: Authorization content-type: application/msword date: Fri, 28 May 1999 21:28:00 GMT x-powered-by: Zope (www.zope.org) Python (www.python.org) connection: close content-length: 12800 last-modified: Thu, 20 May 1999 22:48:17 GMT in each case, the file is downloaded correctly, by Client.py The only diffs are the accept-ranges:, etag:, vary:, x-powered-by: and last-modified: headers. Security, roles, permissions...

Hi, Is the following possible? I want to create a new role :Small_Manager This descends from the Manager role, but has some things disabled. That is instead of creating each roles seperately, make it possible to let them descend from one. And then lowering their permissions. This makes it easy when I disallow a certain permission on top of the tree. All descendants will lose the permission too. I tried to mimic this in the following test : Root Folder : user tom : Manager in a sub-folder : user tito: Manager, but nothing acquired from above instead the view management screen. Now, when I enter as tito, it is still possible to make changes to the documents in the sub-folder... while I explecitely said that the manager role in the sub-folder was only able to view the management screen, not to make changes... what am I doing wrong? ps. Yes, I closed all my browsers, before logging in as tito. Tom.

Web server logs for Zserver

Thanks Michel. I had a shot at debugging FTPServer, but when a breakpoint such as the first line of the listdir function is hit, continuing just hangs the client so I'm not getting very far.
