Instance methods overiding Class method

Hello, I wonder if the following is the intended behavior or it is to be fixed: I create MyClass which inherits from Folder. I create MyFolder, instance of MyClass, and I create a MyMethod DTML Method in it. *Then* I create a DTML Method named MyMethod in MyClass. Newly created MyClass instance won't let me create methods named MyMethod in them (object already exists). However, http://mysite/MyFolder/MyMethod displays the content of the first method (instead of the MyClass method). And now the funny part: if I delete MyFolder.MyMethod, it is not possible to "Undo" the deletion: the transaction is not is the list anymore, but MyMethod doesn't get recreated in MyFolder. There should probably be some better system for sniffing uploaded content and trying to figure out what sort of Zope object to create. This could be based on * file extensions * http headers * the content of the uploaded object * Zope preferences This is a fairly complex problem. For example, there should be some way for you to specify that uploaded files with a given file extension create instances of a given Z Class. Hmm. Hi, before I start reinventing the wheel, what is the best way for validating form-input with standard or userwritten validationfunctions and redisplaying the same form, with those fields marked, which validate to false ? Gruß Joachim Schmitz

If I understand correctly, you are looking for a way to chop some fixed string '/path/path' off the front of the PATH_INFO for every request. I would guess that doing this in ZServer rather than in ZPublisher might be a better idea. Passing parameters into DTML methods

I have the following dtml code piece (using Zope 1.10.2):  updateValue is a dtml method which looks like:      When I view the dtml method, foo, with the call  I get the error below . Interestingly, if I change the method above to:      And call it as  it works.... Is this the right way to pass in a parameter to a dtml method? Serving a sub-folder: 2nd Try

Having burned myself on the first try, here's a second approach which (knock wood) appears to do everything right. It's simpler, too. Forget editing App/manage_tabs.dtml, all we have to muck with is ZPublisher/Publisher.py Once again, find "URL=request.script" around line 360. Directly after it, insert: omit_steps=request.environ.get('ZOPE_OMIT_STEPS') if omit_steps: omit_steps = int(omit_steps) request.other['PATH_INFO'] = '/'+join(path[omit_steps:], '/') then, down around line 400, change "URL="%s/%s" % (URL,quote(entry_name))" to: if omit_steps: omit_steps = omit_steps - 1 else: URL="%s/%s" % (URL,quote(entry_name)) Now, in your rewrite rule, you can do something like: RewriteRule ^/(.*) /subsite/$1 [E=ZOPE_OMIT_STEPS:1] I've tested this with management screens, Confera cookies, and normal use, and it seems solid. If you're bothered (as I was) by the lack of a root link in the management screens' parent list, you can change line 110 of App/Management.py from: if not path: return '' to: elif path: path=['.']+path else: return ''
