Can't get Zope auth and RH 6.0 Apache to work!

Help! I can't get Zope authentication to work with RH 6.0 and Apache! I can't get past the management login. I've tried to change the rewrite rules, etc. but with no effect. I downloaded the latest version of Apache so that I could recompile with mod_rewrite. I tried the rules I found by digging through the message archive (someone else had the same problem). I tried it from my networked W98 browser (with pw encryption turned off). I tried it from localhost and from the ip address of my Linux box. I've tried to find information from the mod_rewrite site on this kind of rule (apparently no one else has had to pass auth to cgi scripts). Nothing works. So, can someone take pity on a poor MS programmer trying to make a move over to Linux and send me their conf files or offer any other advice? My preference is to have the latest version of Apache running so that I can investigate other application server archs not just Zope. Thanks in advance, Eric Miller phoenix(a)cac.net

Something funny about SQL like?

I've tried out the   select * from Users where  =  order by    And that complains: Error, exceptions.KeyError: ['firstname','lastname',etc...] SQL used: Could not render the query template! The list looks good, from my view, so I don't understand the key error. Donner

[more deleted] I agree that ZClasses are much easier than Python. Of course, every solution can have a million possible alternates, and this one is no different. One possibility: make a standard ZClass (ie no explicit subclassing) and add the necessary fields on a propertysheet. The Author could be a lines property so that each author's name is distinct. The Catalog should be able to search this. If there was a way to "link" from one ZClass instance to another, then you could have an Author object for each author and just have the publication point to the Author object. There are certainly ways to do this programmatically now, it's just not automatic. This way, an Author could have other properties (contact info, website address, etc.) if desired, and those properties are only stored in one place. Kevin

zope as staging server

Hi, First of all, Zope is fantastic. However, in order to adapt it for my immediate task, I need to: 1) Make a prettier, easier interface for my userland (and for the suits, who love pretty graf-x) 2) Use Zope on the staging server only, and add a method to publish objects via arbitrary means (flat HTML, ftp, scp, rsync, whatever) I'm pretty sure #1 is a fairly simple matter of designing my own pages that call the various zope management methods. And #2 seems doable, but I'm not sure enough of the internal architecture of Zope to do this (nor have I programmed in Python before, tho it looks to be fairly obvious 00 stuff). Should I write an external method for this? I suppose the strategy would be to add properties to my Zope objects to hold info regarding the destination of the flat HTML, and then write a method to support them. Finally, has anyone done this already? JT

I guess I ignored wget because I was hoping to inherit as much of the permission structure as possible from Zope (and because Zope is so cool I wanted to work within it!), but your suggestion prompted me to look at wget docs again, and with --no-parent Zope's permissions will be mirrored without any additional measures. Now, another point entirely is the wisdom of doing this in this exact way. You don't want Zope to escape the fieldname (becuause it breaks). However, I could easily hijack the form and submit http://foo.com/SQLMethod?searchkey=;DROP+TABLE+Users which would, on some databases, cause a Bad Thing. I might suggest adding some logic in the SQL Method to ensure that the searchkey you are getting is one you intended. (By example):  SELECT * FROM Users WHERE  =  ORDER BY    If the user didn't input something nice, give them generic results. I might even log this somewhere as hijacking a form is a decidedly antisocial thing to do...  SELECT * FROM Users ORDER BY lastname

I'm trying to search an SQL table for a key=value where the user gets to select the key and the value. APACHE TIMEOUT

Friends of Zope, I am a newbie who is learning Zope! Recently I have started getting timeout errors running Zope with Apache. I'm sure the problem is correctable but I am not sure where to look for the problem. I can connect and query Zope once and then I am locked. If I run Xserver at the server everything appears ok. Any Ideas?? RedHat Linux 6.0 Apache Zope (most stable version)
