I'm having trouble getting simply the first option to work. I'm used to calling sql calls with the -     Instead of: <dtml-in SQL_get_names> </dtml-in> Is there a difference? If I try your meathod, I can't tell if it is working because it will not print anything to screen. If I try your second meathod, I can't even add the SQL Meathod. It doesn't read the varaibles. Lastly, if I try my syntax above it fails every time. You can really do it either way. You can present it to the user as a search interface, which might be nice if you have a whole bunch of docs. Or, if you want to present it more as a download directory (a static-looking list, as opposed to a search), you can just use that code above. The code above does dynamically generate the file list, but the user won't be able to tell if it is static or dynamic. The great thing about ZCatalog is that you can arrange your objects in the ZODB in ways that are convenient to you and still be able to present the users with different views that are independent of an object's location. As Michel mentioned, this is exactly how the new Zope.org beta site works. I can put a news item or howto in my Members page, and then it will show up in the central location for those items through the Catalog. Kevin

Persistent method

Hi Is it possible to have a persistent method/class/process running in the ZOPE framework? For example an online trading site would have some connectors (CORBA or XLMRPC) to an external system to do the trades. The connectors can be a python class. This class will place an order and have to wait for a reply, but since a reply can take too much time, one would have an asynchronous call. The class/process still needs to stay resident so that it can act on the reply, e.g. write reply to database/send mail to users etc. Also it could monitor clients portfolios and send e-mail or some other notification when a specific share is above or below a certain threshold. I have solved this problem. Giving an non-persistent attribute a name starting with "_v_" can avoid pickling it. So I used setattr(self, "_v_long_R_Pipe", long_R) and the attribute can be access outside of the defining method. off-topic: does caching work differently with frames?

Hi, All I'm working on a new site that uses frames for navigation (or, at least for one mode of navigation). I know other people have complained about caching issues on this list before, but I'm not sure if I've seen this before: when I'm using frames, IE5 seems to just put up the cached copies of things. If I go directly to the URL at the top level, I see the new content... but I have to explicitly refresh in the frame in order to get the new content to show up there... Is this consistent with what you've all seen? Is there a way to make this stop? Thanks, Kevin

manage_clone problem

I have created a DTML Document in the root directory that is supposed to be used from all subdirs of my web application. This document contains a call to manage_clone(), which should copy an object from some other folder into the _current_ folder. But as the DTML is stored in the root directory, manage_clone always clones into the _rootdir_, too. this is the call:  Please help. H. -- Heiko Stoermer MIG Augsburg

sendmail not part of a transaction

Not sure if this is a bug but I doubt it. If an exception occurs after a sendmail tag the mail is still sent. It should probably be part of a transaction.
