Installation Question

--- Stupid Alert!--- I don't know a whole lot about the intricacies of running Linux, so much of this stuff is new to me. -------------------- I've got a dedicated Linux server; no root access. While installing Zope, I get this error, "./install: bin/python: No such file or directory". I've tried everything I know, but I don't know what is going on. I looked through the relatively sparse Zope Docs and couldn't find anything new out. If you could possibly explain why this occurring and, even better, provide a solution, I'd be grateful. I hope I don't need root to get Zope working. What I really need is a Linux guru who could handle many of my server tasks. But alas, I don't have much money to pay for one. I got this sort of error long, long ago when I first installed Zope on a Linux box. It might have been because the python binary had been compiled with libc6, and we were running libc5. Try doing a ldd bin/python and see what results you get. Either way, you might want to roll your own Python binary -- in fact, with Zope 2.0 (which is the version I think you should be running, even if you're scared of betas), you have to. -- Alexander Staubo http://www.mop.no/~alex/ "QED?" said Russell. Try doing a "View source" on the result web page. Zope appends a traceback to the HTML. More from error messages?

Is there any way to get more information from an error message? I have the following message: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'string' object has no attribute 'filename' But I don't know what variable it is talking about. If you pass a variable into a python script from Zope, and the variable is a file passed from an "attach" html tag, will it still be a file when python gets it? Is it all just one big string? Any help here would be great... Thanks! Donner

Zope Projects

It seems to me that Zope could use a few more toolkits. The zope portal kit is in progress, with Zcatalog for indexing etc. I have read in the back archives that there is a Zcommerce project and another individual who has created a cybercash kit. It seems to me that a Zope Intranet kit would be a hole in this suite that could use filling. Squishdot could be the conferencing component. To this could be added an employee database using mysql (with photo,email,department,cube location, and phone info), A trouble reporting sytem for computer problems, and a bug tracking sytem for use by companies which produce software products....etc I think squishdot could be enhanced a bit and turn into a fine web-based project center for storing all items related to a project (think Notes) Any other ideas? Is their any interest in this?

Export/Import don't work between 1.10 and 2.0.0b3

Tried to export a whole folder from 1.10 into a local file and then import into a 2.0.0b3 version. It says : Error Type: ExportError Error Value: Invalid export header It should work or there are completely different formats and old formats cannot be read.
