Zope vs. Enhydra

I know, I know -- total flame bait... But really, has anyone had any experience with the *other* open source Web Application Server, Enhydra? I just "discovered" it the other day while writing an introduction to Zope for my co-workers, as we're about to embark on a serious new development project. At any rate, after already being *highly* impressed and sold on Zope - I ended up spending a little time at www.enhydra.org and became more and more enthused. I'm currently downloading it to give it a fair chance - but I was wondering if anyone else here has happened to have already given it a review, and if so, could you relay some of your findings/opinions? I've yet to stumble across any mention of Enhydra in any of the Zope documentation/introductory material or even yet on this list. I'd be interested in hearing any testimonials from Zopistas. Can't import objects ... is transparent folder still the reason ?

I have a problem importing objects (Yihaw Folder derived from Object Manager) on 2.2.4 and Transparent Folder (see traceback at the end). Some months ago i had some similar problem with the first/removed Transparent Folder version. Is this same problem still there on Transparent Folder 0.3, or do i have to search the problem elsewhere for a workaround ? Any idea about a temporary workaround for importing such objects ? Because it will be quite difficult to transfer things from developpement server to production server. This is what Shane respond to this earlier problem. downgrading from 2.1.x from 2.2.0 to use NTuser authentication

I would really like to use the jc/ntuserfolder products but see that they haven't been brought up to speed with the new 2.2.x security model. Will downgrading to 2.1.x render my site inaccessible? What will I have to change security wise so I can use these pages from the old version? Alternatively, I might take a stab at bring the jc/ntuserfolder up to date with the new security model - any insight from those in the know appreciated(am I underestimating that task?). standard_error_message woes!

Gaaah! I'm totally miffed/pissed/confused/sad about this. I have Zope 2.2.4, and if I go to: http://docwhat.gerf.org:9673/fish (an non-existant object) I get the HTTPResponse.py _error_html() function as called by notFoundError(). Now, if I go to: http://zope.org/fish I get a nice fully customized error page, which includes where I *might* have ment to go.... What's going on! According to http://www.zope.org/Members/JohnC/StandardErrorMessage I should be able to get this to work, he has a <dtml-if "error_type=='NotFound'">... example even! Gaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! *goes off in a corner, pulling out hair while quitely sobbing* -- "This is the Steve Allen show. To those of you lunging for the channel selector, 'Good Night!'" If you are using ZSQLMethods and your database returns column names in one case (UPPER) but you reference them with another (lower) it appears that instances of SQLAlias get leaked. Brian Lloyd has put Jim Fulton's fix in the 2.2.5b release that's up on the site. date: Are month and day required?

We just ran into some strange behavior with date properties. Although hour, minute, second, timezone, ... are not required, day and month seem to be. Is there a way to specify only the year or only the year and month? (The ZQR was referenced, but I didn't find info there.) Thank you. --kyler

I realize you've already worked around this problem, but I've seen this on some installations of IE. Thanks for the suggestions. It turns out to have been an Internet Explorer thing. I pulled the site up in Netscape and everything works fine. I was on IE 5.01 SP1, upgrading to 5.5 SP1 seems to have resolved the problem.
