oh by the way you guys have been helping in an excellent way this week. thanks so much. When I use this dtml; if bid, bpurchaseyear, and bdescription are all true. the string ends up being set to 'id,description' It is skipping the bpurchaseyear or taking 'puchaseyear' it out of the string. Detecting which form button is pushed?

I am currently playing with a form with multiple submit buttons and I was wondering the correct dtml way of detecting which submit button was pushed: My Submit buttons look like: ... <input type="SUBMIT" name="create" value="Create As New Record (Copy)"> <input type="SUBMIT" name="edit" value="Edit In Place"> <input type="SUBMIT" name="delete" value="Delete This Record"> ... And I would like to know what is the correct way of munging REQUEST.form to switch on which was pressed. Also is there a way of <dtml-if>'ing on the existance of a variable in the namespace? Python class

I intend to define a term class as a python product in zope, here is the python code : class term: def __init__(self, term, members=[]): self.term = term self.members = members def addMember(self, terms*): for t in terms: self.members.append(t) def listMembers(self): return self.members I do not know how to implement the addMember in Zope: I intend to have this : the user have a drop-down selection to select the term to add members to. And a list of all terms in the current folder is below with check box to let the user to choose (if the form can set the checkbox with the ismember relation is better). How can I do that? A minor Zope heresy <grin>

I just figured out that I can get to the management screens by using [...]/manage_workspace instead of [....]/manage. This makes me happy. So far it has worked pretty well, although there have been minor oddities like a javascript error and a place where a new window popped up instead of the page just changing when I clicked on a management tab. But I like it much better than the standard 'manage' view, because there isn't that wasted screen space on the left with that useless (to me!) folder view. (The 'folder' view would be more useful if it could also list folder contents, but even then I don't think I'd find it all that useful.) Anyway, this note is just kind of an FYI on different usage styles, for folks to think about when doing new development. I certainly like the fact that Zope is flexible enough to allow me to play with the management interface like this, and I hope it stays that way! --RDM

Debug print?

Hi, A trick I have found useful is to implement an external method called dprint. I print things into a string variable inside the REQUEST variable. This makes debugging easier, especially when you have looping conditions. <dtml-call "dprint(myvar)"> And then, in the stardard_footer_html or something like that, I print out the string (which may have many lines) and also the REQUEST variable and SESSION variables. There is a flag that I can set, so in the production copy the debug print is suppressed. This is kind of useful. But as always, there is probably already something done by someone else. So the question is: Does Zope already come with some debugging feature like this? Or has anyone done some something like this? I guess it'll be good for Zope to come with some elementary debugging features. A simple print statement already helps a lot. I create a dtml method called ' readme' inside the folder. Notice the initial blank in the name. Here's a question: When coding with a language, say, raw python or something, typically, you'll put comments in the code to explain what various methods do. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this in Zope other than to put comments directly in the dtml code itself. Wouldn't it be beneficial to say, have a "Comments" tab or property or something that would display right in the folder browse of the zope interface? -- The more data I punch in this card, the lighter it becomes, and the lower the mailing cost. -- S.
