SiteAccess breaks ZDConfera

Adding a SiteRoot object to some folder upward from a ZDConfera topic ("Confera Topic" object) will break the topic. It seems that when adding a message, instead of inserting a valid message object, ZDConfera ends up adding a corrupt object. At one point ZDConfera, when I tried adding a follow-up, duplicated the parent message instead of adding the reply, resulting in a circular reference that only a database restore would fix. This is Zope 2.1.4, SiteAccess 1.0.1, ZDiscussions 0.2.0, on Slackware Linux 2.2. Here's the traceback. Ok, I've butchered the original message because it was too long to read. It looks like Proxy Pass is the best way to go. Can you use Proxy Pass with SSL? Q: <dtml-in sort=twofields>

Hi. I am constructing a search interface for a catalog. The objects I index have three relevant properties: title (textual title) id (the id, sortable) book_title (the name of the book where the chapter is included) I want to have atabular result like this: Book 1 Chapter 1.1 Chapter 2.1 Book 2 Chapter 1.1 Chapter 4.2 To acomplish this I currently do something like: <dtml-in Catalog sort=id> <tr> <td><dtml-if first-book_title><dtml-var book_title></dtml-if></td> <td><dtml-var title></td> </tr> </dtml-in> But, to have the list look nice, I'd need to specify two fields for sorting, book_title should be the primary field sorted by, and id should be the field all identical book_title entries should be sorted on. httpd.conf help

Here's the scenario that I'm dealing with (all of this works w/o Zope, i.e. static content): - user starts at www.mydomain.edu (http) - user goes to www.mydomain.edu/internal which is secure (https) and requires a password for entry - all pages under www.mydomain.edu/internal are secure (https) I'm having trouble getting this to work with out Zope-ified site, however. What I would like is to have Apache handle all password authentication, and I would like it to happen over ssl. Is this possible at all? Any help would be appreciated. Roles, Local Roles, and so on

Hi, I have a question concerning the Role and Local Role system. Well, am I right with the observation, that Local Roles are only locally assigned global roles? For example I have an user "oandrich" which is globally just a member of Role "user" but in /test/users/andrich for example I can assign him a "Manager" role? Isn't it possible to get really local roles? What I like to have are roles that needn't be defined in a global context and which are only available below a certain directory and are local to this part of the directory tree. Some background why I need this. I am developing a problem tracking system, that is used in my company, but we also of companies that are subproviders of us. I like to do the following. In /rz-online I install the tracking system for us. In /ewr-online I install the tracking system for one subprovider. Well, when I have to define global roles I see the roles the ewr-online admin defines in my possible list of Roles. And he sees mine. Ok, for me this is no problem, but the ewr-online people are a little bit nuts and so this will certainly confuse them. Ok, I can do something like adding global roles named like this JTS_<id of the folder>_<desired name> This is easy and fine to do in Zope, but it is ugly. So, is it possible to get really local roles? Bye, Oliver

Zope and Oracle ODBC

Hi there, I'm trying to connect to an Oracle 7.3 database through Zope using a 'Z ODBC Database Connection'. It's giving me an error saying: 'Invalid connection string: gsmInfo' I set up a DSN throught the Control Panel as follows: Data Source Name: gsmInfo SQL* Net Connect String: 2: UserId: testowner This is using the 'Oracle73 Ver 2.5' Driver. I also used the '32-bit ODBC TEST' that comes with Oracle and this connected to the database no problem after entering in a password. Has anyone got any clues or suggestions to the problem. Role weirdness

I have a site containing some content users need to register to see. The way I set this up was: /premium/acl_users[GUF] Using GUF to authenticate and assign users a role of contentSubscriber. At one point in time, I created a user defined role at the root level of my Zope called contentSubscriber. I then changed the security on /premium to require contentSubscriber role to view or access content information. Now, I can't seem to find any mention of a contentSubscriber role anywhere in my Zope management screens OTHER than by looking at a user through /premium/acl_users/userList. None of the Find/Advanced... screens mention my contentSubscriber role either. The odd thing is that my access control scheme appears to work. Other than my random hourly crashes. -Jon

The simple answer is: you don't need to cast. :) Zope provides a solution: your specify in your multiple-select a name like varname:list, and Zope will automatically cast it into a list.
