GUF: Generic User Folder

Hi, I am starting to look into GUF, but the documentation is not very well done: it's a bit cryptic and disorganized, and makes too much assumptions on what the user knows. Where can I find more help/examples regarding GUF? The How-To in http://www.zope.org/Members/hippy/GUF_SQL_crypt is not too good, either. Salut Olivier, Did you solve your issue below? If not, please reexplain what you are trying to achieve. If you want to render one of your ZClass with <dtml-var myClass> you may need to subclass "Renderable BaseClass" (available on the Zope site). Or I am barking up the wrong tree? getting object given path

I know I've seen reference to a function to get an object reference given a URL path, but I can't seem to find it. It doesn't help that I've been up for more than 24 hours trying to get this code to work. I'm just trying to update a series of objects programatically. I have a form working that submits the data for a Catalog query to select the correct objects. The dtml-in statement is working fine as evidenced by just printing the meta_data Id. However... If I do a <dtml-with getobject(data_record_id)>, the 'id' variable has the value of the id of the folder above the one the Catalog is in. Doing a <dtml-var> on the getobject call shows me a 'folder instandce'. None of the cataloged items are folders, they are ZClass instances. Earlier I ran through the whole catalog using the dtml-with construct and a reindex_object call, and the reindexing worked fine. But now if I try to call propertysheets.info.manageChangeProperties() I get told that 'info' does not exist, even though that is definately the name of the propertysheet. I'm desperate to get this working for the client. getpath returns the correct value, so I think if I can turn that path into an object I can access the property sheets and get them updated. But I also want to know what is going wrong with my Catalog and/or the getobject method thereof. I'm not sure where to start looking.... I'm running under Site Access, and I'm guessing that is the source of my problem, somehow. --RDM

standard_error_message in 2 places

i have a folder, devel, as a subfolder of '/'. i have also 2 set of standard_html_header[footer] and standard_error_message in the 2 folders. the situations is: while the corresponding standard_html_header[footer] work well, the standard_error_message under devel folder doesn't work. standard_error_message under '/' is the one always returned to the browser. is there an explaination of this situation? or do I misunderstand the concept of acqusition? thanks for your answers -- 'Life is like boxes of chocolate, Forrest. HowTo Download Files

Hello, I have a problem with allowing clients to download files from a Zope folder. The HTML tag is as follows: <P><AHREF="/some_folder/Download/AvsB">AvB</A></P> With "AvB" being the Zope ID in the Download folder. There is an acl_users folder on the "some_folder" directory and the user belongs to the correct group. All sub-folders obtain their permissions from "some_folder". When a client tries to save the file, the client gets the following message: "Cannot copy. Cannot find the file specified." Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Roy W. Martin rwmarti(a)nuecesgroup.com

2nd post - Renaming and the Z Search Interface

I've used Z Search Interface to create a set of forms and reports. I renamed some of the objects, including the data source. I've corrected all of the values that are visible via the Zope management interface so that the new names are reflected. All of the queries run by independantly if tested. But none of the reports (search results) operate if they are run via the Z Search interface pages (they did before the renaming ops). The error returned is: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Resource not found Additionally, there is one Z Search Interface "form" that will not open at all, even if *all* of it's text is stripped out. At that point, to the "naked eye", there is no content to the method at all. I was expecting to find some hidden properties associated with the objects that I could tweak and fix these errors but no luck. What is hidden from me that I cannot access? Or is this evidence of some corruption in the ZODB? And are these "oddities" (as they appear to me now) peculiar to the Z Search Interface or is this common behavior with Zope in general? OK, I browsed a little bit about GUF on the mailing list, and it seems that there are quite a few disasters. Horrible disasters. Sorry, but GUF seems a bit too inmature. So, let me come back to the original question again, beside straight GUF, is there any other way of tapping into Zope's security model and using a generic user? WorldPilot send problem

I've installed WorldPilot (D/L'ed today) under Zope 2.1.4-2. I followed the INSTALL file instructions and everything seems to work just fine with one exception. WorldPilot IMAP folder filenames

I don't know if there are any standards here, but I'm moving a TWIG installation to WorldPilotand am running into some IMAP folder naming problems. We have TWIG configured to look in ~<user>/imap/xyz for an IMAP folder called "xyz". This (per memory) is consistent with how I recall other IMAP clients working outside of our use of "imap" instead of the cannonical "Mail" (historical reasons). Now, I can edit WorldPilot's MailListRoot to be "imap", but the problem then is that WorldPilot then looks for folders in ~<user>/imap.xyz (ie the file "imap.xyz" versus the file "xyz" in the "imap" directory). I'd thought the defacto standard was to use a directory and then files underneath that. No? Is there a reason for WorldPilot taking this tack?
