Cache settings?

Hi, In the Control Panel, Database, Cache area, what does Target Size refer to? Number of pages? Kilobytes? What does it mean by "target"? What exactly is being cached? Output from methods? The method content themselves? What is the difference between this and ZCache? Thanks, John

Frequent Zope Restarts and GUF authentication

I have a server that is being run in production mode without the -D flag. The server processes die after about two hours. I haven't seen the actual crash yet nor have any users complained about error messages. I know the server is restarting because the Control_Panel tells me so. Well, the real problem here is that since my site is protected with GenericUserFolder in cookie mode, GUF's cache gets wiped when the server bounces. This forces my users to log in again. Two questions, Any guesses as to what's causing the mysterious restarts? Any idea on how to resolve the GUF problem? -Jon

Python equivalent of dtml-with?

I'm writing an external method in Python which is going to be used to create new instances of a ZClass that I've written. In my normal DTML for object creation, I would do something like this: <dtml-with "ZClass.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.instanceProperties.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call unindex_object> <dtml-call "manage_editCataloger('MyCatalog', REQUEST)"> <dtml-call index_object> </dtml-with> I've got an external method written which is able to create a new object by calling the ZClass.createInObjectManager method. However, I'm not sure how to code up the code contained in the dtml-with block using Python. I suspect that I could get things to work for the example above with something like this: (self is the product containing my ZClass definition) newobj = self.ZClass.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST) newobj.propertysheets.instanceProperties.manage_editProperties(REQUEST) newobj.unindex_object() newobj.manage_editCataloger('MyCatalog', REQUEST) newobj.index_object() However, I'm interested in knowing how do code up stuff in Python which would take into account acquisition. new to zope

Hello, I'm very new to zope and I was wondering how I can reference a property that is in a subfolder. ex: there is a folder called "main" inside the "main" there is a folder called "sub" and I create a property called "message" is there a way for me to call to that property outside of that folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Jon

Thanks Jeff...that was the problem...all of my Zope instances until now have been started by uid zope. Rather stupid mistake, but a learning experience nonetheless. using manage_upload

Hi everyone, I'm asking this question again because I still haven't been able to work it out for myself. I'd like to have a button or link on a page that, when pressed, presents the user (the Manager actually) with a dialog to upload a new version of a file object that's in that directory. I presume that the manage_upload method would do the trick, but I can't figure out how to use it. The file object I want to update is called 'Bookmark.htm'. Authentication - login/logout

Does anyone know how to logout a Zope user? Basically I need to be able to force an authenticated user back to the 'Anonymous' user programmatically. (when someone presses a logout button, etc.) Also, how can I change the message text in the login popup window? Currently it says something like, "Enter username for Zope at foo.bar.com:" I would like to be able to modify this depending on where someone is logging in. So use an existing system; Greenspun's preference is Oracle, but he doesn't argue it like a law of nature. -- A.M. I'm successfully using MySQL 3.22.25, Zope 2.1.4, MySQLdb 0.1.2, and ZMySQLDA 1.1.3 together. DCOracle & netv2

I have Oracle 8i for Linux. When I tried to compiled the ZOPE DCOracle interface, I got errors about the missing library 'netv2' which it seems is supposed to be part of Oracle.
