Making my own Folder Object

Hello: I want to create an Folder object that has certian attributes in it. Creating a ZClass dosen't seem to be the way to do this, but how can I get _my_ special folder to appear in the "Available Objects" list in a regular folder? What I'm trying to do is simply be able to add some folders into a folder-- these folders would all have the same attibutes in them, the elements of each would be different of course- then there would be some dtml documents in each that would use some of these variables in their output. I really just want to modify the folder object to make my own which has more attibutes in it. Is there an obvious way to do this that I'm missing? -andy diller

filter(), map(), and lambda

Hey all! I've been trying to achieve this for a few months now, with no success. hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on this one... I have a python product that contains 3 sub-classes. One of these is called "events". In my primary class I have a method "eventValues", which works great to return sub objects, but It also returns sub-objects that are NOT events. ------------------ def eventValues(self): """ return list of sub-objects """ return map(lambda x, p=self: x.__of__(p), self.data.map(self.ids)) ------------------ So, I tried adding in a filter() to remove out the meta_types that I don't want. ------------------ def eventFilterValues(self): """ return list of only events """ rlist = map(lambda x, p=self: x.__of__(p), self.data.map(self.ids)) rlist = filter(lambda x,p=self : p.data[x].meta_type == 'SREventPost', rlist) return rlist ------------------ These calls are not working... I get a TypeError Error Type: TypeError Error Value: Bucket __getitem__ expected integer key Any ideas how to make this work? -ed-

Can AB sent a variety of queries to the zope box? My Site is highly SQL dependant, and It wouldn't be realistic to test with the same query over and over (Results would be cached). For example lookup Jones, Smith, Franklin, Black, White, Green, etc. Possibly making a table to reference. Also as far as site configuration goes, Poor SQL design is often a bigger culprit than poor server implementation. Newbie question: ZCatalog 'summary' meta-data

Please find it in your heart to enlighten a newbie. :) I've been able to find a lot of helpful documentation about how to use ZCatalogs and search interfaces, but one thing that has eluded me is the 'summary' meta-data feature. All I've been able to find out about this is it's supposed to store the first few hundred characters of a text document so that they can be displayed on a results report. I now have a catalog of about 100+ DTML Documents, and every time I search it, the "summary" column of the results report is empty. I'm confused. I assumed ZCatalog builds this summary automatically...does it? If not, what extra stuff do I have to do to make it so? Any troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated. MySql and Auto_increment

Hello, Has anyone run into this problem: I have created a table with an auto_increment id. I want to be able to get the new id without having to do another query. Does someone know how to do this with Mysql? I.E. create table test( id NOT NULL auto_increment, name char(20)) insert into table test (name) values ("first"); > at this point I would like to get the id assigned to first without doing a select id from test where name ="first" is there a way to do this???? Looking for a Zope Executive Summary

Having successfully gotten our firm to adapt Python as our primary scripting language, I am now trying to convince my boss that Zope is a technology that we should investigate. Cron for Zope?

Hi, Is there any way you can execute a method in Zope at a given time? How about on a repeating basis? For example, I want MyMethod to execute on MyObject at 5pm every day. How about more complex stuff, like 'every other Thursday' and so on. Cheers, Chris
