portal problems

Zopistas, I'm trying to let my users create portals, prerelease though the PTK may be. When they get to PortalWizard: 01 (Set ID, Title, Description and data storage) they get told they can't access the Interfaces folder where the Generic Portal lies. What do I need to do to let them create portals? Folders Need Acquisition Property

Folders need a property that tells Zope that its contents should be part of the acquisition path when the folder itself is in the path. This way, widely used objects could be better organized.

Inside 'expr="..."', you are speaking Python, and the sequence variables, which have names which are illegal as Python identifiers, cannot be referenced directly. The correct syntax would be:: <dtml-in "_.string.split(tune_name,'|')"> <dtml-if sequence-start> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('tune_name',_['sequence-item'])"> which uses the "_" variable representing the current namespace. An alternative is to use <dtml-let> to alias the sequence variables, like so:: <dtml-in "_.string.split(tune_name,'|')"> <dtml-let si=sequence-item> <dtml-if sequence-start> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('tune_name',si)"> This oddness is an historical artefact: the sequence variables got their names long before DTML got the expr="" syntax. There is a proposal in the DTML wiki (look under http://www.zope.org/WikiCentral to find it) to add syntax to the <dtml-in> tag which will make all this unnecessary. Python Methods Caveats?

Hi, I was wondering why Python Methods seem to make ZClasses very unstable. I've got a set of movies Zclasses that i'm adding in via xml-rpc (to an external method). The Classes and pages work fine until anyone of them calls a python method within the class that simply returns a fixed string date representation. At this point all the Movie ZClasses (instantations of one class) become broken through the zodb, and i get dumped a bunch of ZODB errors at the console about not being able to load state. i can still add in new movies. when i was writing this application things worked fine but now that i've shutdown and restarted zope i've been getting these errors. i vaguely remember chris petrelli (of dc) saying something about python methods being bad for zclasses at IPC8 (python conference). I realize that the solution to my problem is basically moving the python method outside the zclass (i hope) but i was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the why of the problem. Sherman Software Systems are looking for motivated individuals with a Python/Zope/OO background to assist with the development of a DRP (Disaster Recovery Planning) tool on a contract basis. The tool is in use in a number of high profile sites and we are looking to take it to the next level. WorldPilot scheduling features??

If I thought that these were elegant solutions I would have posted patches when I finished them :-) There must be a few non-7bit chars in the WorldPilot.py file because it's trying to attach as binary... Problem with sendmail

Hi, While trying to use the dtml-sendmail tag, I get this error on my server console: Exception socket.error: (32, 'Broken pipe') in <method SendMail.__del__ of SendMail instance at 8652360> ignored Any idea why this is happening? Worldpilot and me ... (and UW-IMAP)

Hi! I've spent the evening trying to set up Worldpilot to communicate with a UW-IMAP server (4.7.x, SuSE-Linux 6.4). I tried every possible variation in IMAPHACK.py and got various results ranging from different errors to WP successfully displaying my INBOX. But no other folder ever appeared. More over, Setting MailListRoot to Mail resulted in "Mail" appearing six times (for no apparent reason, I have ~20 subfolders in Mail), and all of them showed up empty. So I searched the lists archive and did the following: Changed FolderFullName=folder[2] to FolderFullName=str(folder[2]) in Worldpilot.py which resulted in all folders in /home/chris/ showing up (well, somehow: names were cut if any non-letter characters were used), but at least this is what one would expect after reading the docs (and the mails ;-) . So I searched further: created a c-client.cf : I accept the risk for IMAP toolkit 4.1. set black-box-directory /var/spool/imap_folderlinks/ created imap_folderlinks and a symlink to my maildirectory and ... Success - somehow. Now my subfolders showed up (at least those without non-letter characters in their names) but my INBOX had gone. So for testing I copied INBOX from /var/spool/mail/<user> to /home/<user>/mail and it worked. Only one thing left: folder creation does not work for me. WP creates only subfolders and they are named parent.subfolder. As "." is no letter, these do not appear (at least this is what I believe ;-). This was mentioned on the list before, but I found no solution. Nevertheless I was yet thinking about letter-only folder names as I noticed that now using Netscape Messenger isn't possible any more. INBOX is there, but all other folders cannot be subscribed to (Netscape tries tosubscribe /home/<user>/Mail/<user>/<foldername> ... argh!). Does anybody know if other mailers (especially Outlook) behave the same way (a Worldpilot-only setup is not what I want) or is there a solution to get both Netscape and Worldpilot live together happily ever after? As last resort I could migrate to Cyrus-IMAP, if it can be done with existing accounts. Any experiences?
