Hmm, I guess maybe I don't get your intent. Suppose I have a DTML Document, 'has_prop', with a property named 'aProp', currently set to 'XXX'. Its body looks like:: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> This is the <dtml-var id> Document. Property 'aProp' has value <strong><dtml-var aProp></strong>.</p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> I have a DTML Method (*not* a document, this is important!), named 'change_prop', which looks like this:: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties( aProp='YYY' )"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect( absolute_url() )"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> If I traverse through the DTML Document and then call the DTML Method, Zope does the Right Thing (TM): URL: http://localhost:8080/has_prop/change_prop leaves me showing the body of has_prop, whose property 'aProp' is now 'YYY'. I don't have to mess with the id of the document at all. The key is that change_prop, a DTML Method, can't have properties: it uses whatever properties belong to (or are acquired by) its "caller." In this case, the caller is has_prop, so has_prop's properties get changed. Does that help any? Arg! ZClass quirks

Hi, I have a set of ZClasses like this: /Products/MainZClass/ (Base Classes: ObjectManager, Renderable, Folder) | --- MainZClass | --- ZClass1 | --- ZClass2 I want to be able to Add ZClass1's inside ZClass2's, but for some reason the Subobjects screen in ZClass2 doesn't list ZClass1, even though both ZClasses reside in the same folder (MainZClass). Even stranger is the fact that I'm sure I tried this before to see if it was possible, and it worked, could this be a bug in recent versions? Help! kh

ZSQL method

REQUEST weirdness . . .

'ello. Bear with me on this one; I'm having worlds of problems coming up with any kind of coherent way of expressing the problem. :) I have a form which contains the following: <input type=text name="street.address1:record"> <input type=text name="street.address2:record"> <input type=text name="street.city:record"> <input type=text name="street.state:record"> <input type=text name="street.zip:record"> To parse this data, I would ordinarily just use a dtml-with: <dtml-with street> <dtml-var address1>, etc, etc, etc </dtml-with> No problem. This, however, is where things get interesting. I'm passing the data from this form to a "confirmation" page. The data from the first form will be simply put into a bunch of "hidden" fields, where the user will be prompted to REALLY do what they were doing, or cancel back to the original form. Now, I don't want to have to re-code the confirmation page every time I add a new value to the main form, or remove an input for whatever reason. What I figured I would do is the following: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form.keys()"> <input type=hidden name="<dtml-var sequence-item>" value="<dtml-var "REQUEST.form[_['sequence-item']]">"> </dtml-in> This works fine for all the values in the form which aren't using the ":record" tag, but obviously for my address, I'll need to iterate through it. ie: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form['street'].keys()"> <input type=hidden name="street.<dtml-var sequence-item>:record" value="<dtml-var "REQUEST.form['street'][_['sequence-item']]">"> </dtml-in> ( In the original code, "street" wasn't hardcoded, and I just wrapped that statement around a dtml-try, where the except clause was my original dtml-in. ) This code doesn't work. Upon closer inspection, the following line was the culprit: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form['street'].keys()"> Upon even closer inspection, *none* of the dictionary functions would work. Not even <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['street']['address1']"> Then I decided it was time to just see exactly what was in the object. <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['street']"> yielded the following results (I had just entered sequential numbers for all five inputs): address1: 1, address2: 2, city: 3, state: 4, zip: 5 Here's the output of <dtml-var "REQUEST.form">: {'street': address1: 1, address2: 2, city: 3, state: 4, zip: 5, 'submit': 'submit'} The original <dtml-with> code still works, as does <dtml-var "street.address1">. I've also tried using getitem: <dtml-var "_.getitem('street')['address1']"> I'm quite confused. It would appear that "street" really *isn't* a dictionary at all, yet somehow the <dtml-xxx> tags still work. What's going on here? I'm quite befuddled. Thanks a lot in advance for any help, and apologies again for the convoluted message. -CJ

Is there a Zope logfile analyzer ?

Hi, I want to generate statistics about the access on a zope server like you do on normal web servers (e.g. apache): 1.) What format has the Zope logfile (Z2.log ? Is it the right file ?) ? 2.) Are there any tools like 'webalizer', 'analog' ,... for zope ? 3.) Can I analyze it with such standard tools ? 4.) Are there any parameters I need ? ciao. Emacs and Zope (QUEST)

Hi, I try to access to my ZODB via FTP using Emacs. As I'm new to Emacs I don't know how to specify the port. If I try C-x C-f RETURN /superuser@localhost:8021 it doesn't work. I guess it is because Emacs exepts 8021 to be a directory and not a port. Thanks in advance

Logging to a DBMS

I am using zope on a Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 system (the zope_2.1.4-3 Debian package). I notice that the access logs are written to a plain text file /var/lib/zope/var/Z2.log. Are there facilities within Zope to cause it to write its logs to a DBMS? I didn't see anything like this in the documentation except for the ability to set ZSYSLOG_SERVER which I don't really think is for the access logs.
